At a family gathering over the weekend we played Password. We weren’t following the rules. We would all guess at what the word could be after each clue. It was my turn to play. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the word I was assigned, but I do remember the first clue that I gave. The clue I gave was "avoid". Various replies were given and one of them being " Disfellowship". Without thinking I said that disfellowship couldn’t be an answer because it is not in the dictionary. They were surprised. One said " its not?". Another said " I know it isn’t in the bible, but it isn’t in the dictionary either?." " You mean we made it up?" I didn’t reply but continued the game. I felt good to plant another tiny seed. Maybe one day there will be growth.

How did you feel the 1st time you visited this or other "apostate" site?

I was very nervous but also very curious. I never understood why the Society was so afraid of apostates. I couldn’t understand how we encouraged telling other people how their religions have twisted the scriptures but we were to stay away from apostate material because they have twisted the scriptures. I didn’t understand why the apostates’ twisting was so dangerous and the others weren’t. With that being said, I was still scared of apostate material because the Society said it was against God. I came and left quickly many times before I felt comfortable enough to stay around.

Getting OLD
by Jim_TX ina couple in their nineties are both having problems remembering things.
they decide to go to the doctor for a checkup.
the doctor tells them that they're physically okay, but they might want to start writing things down to help them remember.

I've always wondered something about the Memorial
by heybaby ini wondered this even when i was a gung-ho jw: .
where in the bible do jws find the format for how the memorial should be celebrated by the "other sheep?
" i just don't see anywhere in the bible where it says that those not partaking should pass bread and wine.

You are correct. The bible states all Christians should partake. As Blondie pointed out, in 1935 they closed heaven to the world, allowing the rest of us to watch. If they didn’t allow us to watch 99.9% of the halls would be empty on Memorial night..

New DPA and Medical Directive for Witnesses that have moved on...
by Ultimate Reality inin order express my current wishes i am preparing a new dpa and medical directive to replace what i have signed from the organization in the past.
however, if family have an issue with my stand should i be incapacitated, i am including a preamble with the dpa so that the reasons for my wishes are clear.
i welcome comments, adjustments, or ideas.

You have put a lot of work into your preamble. If I may give an opinion, I would recommend that your preamble be presented to your family members only. It would only be confusing to the medical professionals. I recently needed to fill out a Health Care Proxy and I specified that only my doctor could make any decisions involving blood transfusions. For your own peace of mind, perhaps you could make a small card for your wallet stating that you accept blood transfusion and what your blood type is. I hope that you will never be in a situation that requires its use.

Honestly, Would You Have Secretly Taken a Blood Transfusion?
by minimus inwhile i was an active jw elder, i wouldn't have up until that last year.
that's when i was totally mentally out, just going thru the technicalities.
i still respect other jw's viewpoints on their not accepting blood----although i think they are terribly misguided.

As a good and obedient Dub, If a handful of men living in Brooklyn didn't change their minds I would have spent years on dialysis and dealing with all the complications that came with it The quality of life between dialysis and a transplant is the difference between being imprisoned and freedom. I can’t believe I accepted whatever they said without question, but I did.

It was a very disappointing movie. I agree with all comments. I couldn’t understand why they wasted their time making this movie. If you are going to make a remake, it should be at least as good as the original, if not better. I would recommend this movie to no one.
