I had one when I was a kid, at least until my Aunt brought over an Awake article about them. My mom decided to throw it out. My friend who I was playing it with, goes and buys one and my mom hands his mother the article. She throws it out also. I had read the article and it seemed crazy because the thing did not work. Much a do about nothing

Ouija Board Hysteria
by Megachusen ini always wondered why jw's were always so afraid of ouija(pronounced as "wee-yaw" not "wee-gee") boards.
does anyone have any speculation about who started these jw myths?.
anyone who has actually tried the board and would like to give their opinions are welcome.

Asking for money at the hall.
by GapingMouth ini don't go to the meetings anymore for i am fading, but a short while ago something happened in a meeting i'd never seen in my entire life as a jw.
the local needs discussed the fact that the local branch had bought a new kh for a whopping 1 million euros.
that's insane, but not the part that got me.

It happened at my hall in the seventies. We wanted to build a new hall, but first we had to see if we could afford it. Little sheets of paper were passed around and we were asked to write down an amount if any, that we could donate on a continual basis. We were told to put the slips in the donation boxes. Don't know the tally, but we did build the hall and finished paying the mortgage off from the Society 20 years later

Halloween- When you were a JW did you answer the door?
by IWillBeDubbedNoMore ini am watching the movie "the perfect world", and they have a scene of a jw family eating dinner and then the doorbell rings and the mother answers the door with her kids following behind.
she opens the door and there are several costumed children saying "trick of treat".
the jw mother says that they don't participate in such activities.

babygirl75: It was bad enough not celebrating, but the feel of embarrassment of your schoolmates finding out was even worse
beksbks: I would peek out through the blinds to see what they were hearing.
Farkel: Wow ... I think I would have rather crawled into a hole and died than to have done that. You were a brave little soldier.
Marlene: I guess the "No Treat" demanded the "Trick" LOL

Tired of Hypocrisy: Hazard tape is really over the top. I haven't seen anyone go that far. It is sad how much fear is put into children's minds because of the nonsense the Society spits out.
Outaservice: LOL It should be considered cruelty

LOL Hiding:It seems so ridiculous now. It is funny how God's people are pushed into hiding just by little kids

How strange it seems now to avoid such an enjoyable holiday. The little kids in their costumes are adorable.
