I do! Surprisingly, they don't bother me the way other bugs do. I have, on occasion, even gone out of my way to remove them from harm's way in my apartment. They really do get rid of other bugs too.

On Shunning
by Sunspot inthe command of men to practice shunning is cruel and heartless, as we all know.
it tears people up from the heart and hurts everyone involved.. the rigidity and "uptightness" of believing that only you have the "right way" to god, and that being warm and cordial to someone who has left your religion, or attending another church service is going to "cost you" (god will getcha for that---or the elders will) in some way....is so self-limiting.. we all have the right to the pursuit of happiness and to find a faith that renews and motivates us to be our best.
being humans and experiencing growth all the while we are "here", what may be just the "ticket" for us personally at one stage in our life---may not fulfill the same needs a number of years later.. it is not fair that a belief system ( or religious leaders) rather than being a comfort or a teacher any longer, should have the right to keep a "hold" on any person because they choose to move on to another form of worship to the same god.. this flies in the face of what we hold dear in this country and in most others, being forever captive to men who believe that they have the right or the power to penalize ones for the rest of their lives for walking away from their religion.

Garybuss, I agree with everything you said! It is right on the money!
"When in doubt, shun them out!"

Yay ... another exam out the way, just one more to go !
by Simon ini've just passed another exam and now have one more to go before i can add "mcse for windows 2003" to my 'credentials'.
these last few have been a bit of a slog 'cause active directory and infrastructure stuff are not really my thing.
i originally intended to just do the developer ones and then added the mcdba because, well ... some of the exams i'd already done counted towards that, then i could just do a couple more for mcsa ... oh look, now i only need another ... well, you know how it goes.

WTS Damage Control
by Wolfy inthe wts is in damage control mode.
the september 1st wt shows how paranoid the wts has become.
the 1st study article talks about glorifying god "with one mouth".

Do JW really spy on people in the congregation?
by wordlywife ini have so many questions, i don't know where to start...i am new here.
do elders or any other members of a congregation actively spy on others?
is this encouraged if so?
-
dorothy
Oh my God, you really are new here! Of course JW's encourage an underground spy network of congregation members. I noticed this when I would tell only one person something and next thing I knew an elder would be coming to my house to talk about it. Most of what you tell people gets reported back to the elders somehow, or at least gossipped about at length among the elders wives.
Oh yeah, welcome. I'm glad you're here. I read your first post too.

I have often noticed this type of hypocrisy, how it is so wide-spread in our society. We are all so open minded - as long as everyone stays within our boundries of what we believe. It is true that we would find it acceptable that Jesus would throw aside non-Christians but if a it were Muslims who were depicted as the only accepted ones there would be outrage.
On a personal level I am Christian and do believe that Jesus is our lord, but it's a good point still...
