I know a lot of people who responded to the door-to-door message who were just like me: single moms, little or no support from family, trying to do the "right" thing. In essence, vulnerable.

What age group is more prone to become JW's?
by JH in.
when i attended meetings years ago, the only new faces i saw were brothers and sisters who moved to our congregation from another congregation, or children growing up.
i rarely saw new people who came because someone knocked on their door.. do you think that there is an age group more prone to become jw's?

3 paged article in Marie Claire re. Jehovah's
by Country_Woman intoday i saw an article in the "marieclaire" a magazine.. it was the story of a woman who at age 15 begun to question the jw and at age 25 decided to quit.. for this purpose she moved to another town, did'nt tell anybody that she was once a witness and told everybody that her parents died at a young age.
(both are still living - but she haven't seen them for more then 10 years now) .
the article ended with a note from the redaction that the cult is loosing members because some 30% of the youngsters are leaving the movement.

I am hoping this article is published in the Canadian edition too. Magazines that are published in more than one country usually have different content. Better do a flip-through before buying it.

"Just being seen on the street is a witness."
by seattleniceguy inremember how the witnesses used to always say that even if they didn't meet anyone home, just being seen by traffic on the street was a witness?
as if the people driving by are saying to themselves, "wow, look at those servants of the true god, bringing the waters of life to my door.
if only i weren't so bull-headed, i might listen to them and attain a good relationship with my creator.

This is such a croc! I remember one of the reasons being told I couldn't wear pants was because if someone saw me on the street while out in service they wouldn't know I was a witness unless I had a dress on. Yeah, that all-important being-seen-on-the-street witness

Yes, RunningMan, that's exactly what I was looking for. I have no idea what Elsewhere was talking about.

Let's all show up at the Memorial - and gasp - Partake!
by AK - Jeff inhere is a plan to throw the entire organization into chaos.
many of the 'apostates' here believe in the ransom of jesus - and the command to partake of the 'communion' of the lords evening meal, right?
i have come to accept that that 'memorial' is simply a recognition of jesus' sacrifice.

ozziepost:
Yeah, I understand not laughing at the afflicted. I'm appauled by people who laugh at the homeless, the menatlly challenged, etc. I really am, and am very vocal about it when I see it happen.
But grown adults with soundness of mind, carrying on like lunatics and trying to "sign up" as many others as possible??? They're asking for it!
