I'm not afraid of the elders, just of being abandoned by family!

The Fear of "Leaving The Truth"
by minimus inone thing i've seen on this board is that fear has been a motivator for many to stay on as witnesses.
jws are afraid to get the elders mad at them, hurt their families.
they're afraid to be talked about and dissected by the "brothers and sisters" because they are not considered up to par.

Hard to get over: No New System
by confusedjw ini have to tell you something.. i really find it hard getting over the idea of no new system and all that it meant to me.
to be with my children and their children forever in perfect health.. too many days it just leaves me empty.
i just wish i could shake it and enjoy life, but the idea that we just live for 70 years and die kills me.

"Surely I tell you, you will be with ME in paradise."
The org put a spin on this playing with puctuation! "surely I tell you today..."
"End, justifies the means"..... the Watchtower way

How Many People Are Less Stressed Since Leaving The Witnesses?
by minimus indo you feel better----emotionally and mentally since stopping meetings and living under the rules of the witnesses?
i've heard reports of better physical and mental health since persons have left the organization.

How sad it is to have these people in the org
As a youngster, I studied with one of the original faithful ones. When I moved away I always thought of him/wife
when I returned one day, and went to his hall seems like old age made him an angry grouchy old man! Brothers
complained of him and the smell from his "excrement bag". Eventually they connected him through the
phone system. When he died the house went to the org (not his brother) and some brother that helped him
from time to time complained he got nothing! His wife died 1 month later!

I don't know gdt, maybe you're right. God hasn't spoken to me, so I cannot say definitively what he will, or will not, do
I Totally agree, we will live life with the highest morals we can (the ones our coscience tells us, not the WT for they have been wrong all the time) and if God really loves us the way Jesus said, then we can expect the best
By the way the Jehovah of the old testament is the most spiteful/angry/blood thirsty God we can imagine. If this is the real one that is giving us life, what can we really expect?

Interesting conversation with a well known Elder in Brooklyn
by pratt1 inon my way home last night from work i ran into a prominent elder from brooklyn.
this guy is always featured at circuit assemblies and his family was presented as the model witiness family in the 80's.
well imagine my shock and surprise when i realized that this dub had just bought a lottery ticket.

Last week at the public talk, an elder mocked the world's materialism, as people labour away to save "a million dollars". He laughed. As if anybody would need that much money. Um, well, yeah, if you factor in inflation, retirement at sixty-five, and the real possibility of living past your eighties. Would you prefer to end your days in a modern facility with round-the-clock nursing care, or a shabby state-run facility whose attendants don't have time to change you out of your jammies?
They don't care for the poor elderly woman who cannot even drive her/himself to the meetings because they are poor health/poor period. Would it not be nice to be rich, and call a taxi? to go to meetings?
Or maybe retire where your arthritis is better due to good weather? (Beth-Sarim in San Diego)?

A friend MS of mine was hated by the elders, one day when one did not like the work he was doing in the
literature room criticized him, the MS smalled the mags on the counter and helled this is bullsh--!
The elders had a meeting with him, and privately reproved him, and forced him to write a letter
of resignation, he would not and said if you want to take me off, you're going to have to do it yourself!
They did, but to be spiteful to him they did this: 2 years later his youngest son (16) wanted to get baptized
and after doing the questions, they told him he could not...... He asked why not? They said a classmate
witness accused him of pushing this other kid, thus making him not worthy! he asked who is this kid? I have to
discipline my kid, and I have to find out myself? They said it was confidential. It took his kid 3 years before he got baptized!
the brother still contends that this was fictional, and he has no intention of becoming a MS again

Watchtower VS Radar
by little witch inthe watchtower as an icon seems to have been used by the wtbts as a tower to watch for the second coming of christ.
to watch for the things mentioned as precursors of the arrival.
over the years that has changed.
