I just confronted a car full of dubs in the preaching work!
by Atilla inyep, just got back from getting my morning coffee and they were across the street from my house talking to a lady that i believe is turning into a return visit.
i was frantically looking for the un letter, found it and then approached the car as they were just getting back in.
the old dub guy totally denied any un involvement and went into the speal about why the un and before that league of nations was so bad.

The Prayer of Ramzi Yousef
by Farkel inramzi yousef was the mastermind behind the major al qaeda attacks, including the first world trade center bombing, the cole bombing and others.
he had plotted the deaths of president clinton, pope john paul ii and the prime minister of pakistan.
he had hatched up a plan to destroy up to a dozen jumbo jets as they flew over american cities.

Thanks for the great post Farkle - you have a brilliant mind!
So do most muslims. God help us if there is ever a militant JW movement that decides to help Armageddon on it's way.
My fear exactly - they would do just as they were told. You can imagine to WT article!
MKR - Great point. I've thought about asking my mom if she would like for me to off myself so that I could be eligible for resurrection. I don't think she would get it...I hope not!

Still scared!!
by fleaman uk ini have completely moved away from the wt teachings,i know they are wrong and i will live to old age (hopefully!
)and then die of old age...but every now and again ,i feel a terrifying sense of dread (truly terrifying ),that armageddon may just happen ,complete with strange planetary phenomena etc....oh well i guess thats the 30 years of constant, never ending doom and gloom, death and destruction starting from age 3.!..being an english chap,i tend to dismiss therapy etc,but im having second thoughts..... im probably not alone feeling like this?.
ps apologies if this thread has been covered before..

Fleaman - you are supposed to be scared because the JW's instilled an Armageddon Phobia in your mind! I read about that in Steven Hassan's book Releasing the Bonds. One of the ways mind control cults work is by instilling phobias - and it works. When 9/11 happened I had a JW flashback and that was like 15 years after I left. A few years after I left I was afraid of an apostate phone number line. But it does get better!
If/When Armageddon happens - I think god will look at the JW's and ask them about their failed prophecies that they made in his name and sell from door to door in the WT/Awake magazines. I think he will say "Is that the message of love and salvation through Jesus that I asked you carry?"
I think he will ask them about what happened in Malawi, in his name.
I think he will certainly want to know about their "2 witness rule" that has harmed so many children. I think he will say, was that the LOVING thing to do?
I think he will want to hear about the families that have been destroyed by their disfellowshipping doctrine - that is clearly unChristlike.
I could go on and on. If you are still thinking that the JW's are the one true religion that will survive armageddon - maybe you could do some more research. Have you read Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz? Are you aware that the "Faithful and Discreet Slave" story is a parable NOT a prophecy?
I am sorry you are going through this. I have just shared some of the things that convince me that the only way the JW's will survive Armageddon is because of GRACE alone. It is truly disgusting that they do this to people - when Jesus just wanted us to LOVE each other.
Hugs to you.

Progression of changes with DF/DA Doctine
by Bubbamar ini am curious about the history of disfellowshipping and disassociation doctrines.
i know that they changed the da rules when ray and co were leaving so that no one could talk to people who disassociated themselves -- to close the loophole.
i am wondering if that's also when the df rules also became more harshly and strictly enforced.

I am wondering if that's also when the DF rules also became more harshly and strictly enforced. Before Ray, was "apostasy" really ever an issue? Before Ray were they afraid of their dirtly little secrets becoming public. Is that the real reason for the harsh enforcement of the DF/DA policy? I also wonder the percentage of persons disfellowshipped in general prior to 1980 versus since 1980.

MONEY!
by in a new york bethel minute ini dont know if this has been discussed in forum before... but i have heard that in some places, the society still asks for money for their "life-saving products.
" two countries in particular have been pointed as being pay-per-mag operated.
australia and (of all places) africa.

You're right - I also understand that their "donation" system is not worldwide -- but I don't know what other countries still charge for books and magazines. I would bet my right arm that in whatever country they are able to do so without paying taxes - they do it.

I've been a few times and I really like it. I don't go regularly because I reallly don't like getting up Sunday morning. But it's not preachy at all and very open and liberal. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs. Also very friendly and community oriented. All the times I've been I don't think I ever heard a scriptural reference. So for me, that was a plus.
If you don't like it you can always not go back.
