  Old JW books & Apostate literature

  i had a funny experience at work the other day.

  i'm working at a christian college for the summer as an electrical apprentice....we've been in the library for the last couple of weeks, and i happened to discover several old, old jw books (the old paradise lost book, and many others) right alongside of crisis of conscience, and several other "apostate books" .....whoo hoo, was i excited!

  all the jw literature had taped written warnings on the outside of the book covers, saying "do not read for any purpose other than to study the jw religion!!

  Auset - Welcome to Junior Memberdom! I read CoC about 2 months ago -- after being out for 18 years!! Even after 18 years that book really made my head swim!! Brace yourself for some really appalling "insider" information! I couldn't put it down. I wonder what other apostate stuff they had?

  what is the usual age for someone raised as a jw to be baptised?

  is the belief that you must be a baptised jw to survive armageddon?

  I was baptized at 13 and that was WAY too young. It is a major life decision - one that should not be made until a person is able to make other, equally significant decisions. The reason that it is significant in the JW religion is the ramifications of that decision. If a baptized person ever changes their mind about the religion they are disfellowshipped and other members are not allowed to speak to them....including family members.

  IMO its no different than allowing a 13 year old to get married. We can be sure that, given time, the mind of a 13 year might change. That's a given considering their developmental stage. They should not later be punished for a bad decision and have to live with it for the rest of their lives - especially when they have older, wiser parents to help them avoid making irreversible decisions.

  This obviously is not the answer you will get from the WTBTS - just my personal experiences and opinions.

  I GOT MY MOM OUT

  ive sent this in again as i dont think it showed up when i tried.. well ive been out for about 4 years now, and have heklped 7 other people to leave.. last week i finally got my mom to read franz and penton.

  she is not going back to the hall again!.

  thanks to many but most notably simon and farkel who helped me.

  Elder arrested for beating daughter

  elder david nesler was arrested in jackson california for striking his teen-age daughter (also a jw) in front of a high school.

  he is currently released and an active jw member who is allowed to participate in meetings, although his status as an elder is unknown.. this was not alleged to be sexual abuse, but it does certainly call into question the discretion of this elder.

  if this is what he does in public...?.

  Thanks for posting that poem. My dad died a few years ago. He was only 57. The first year was SO hard...I really felt your poem! Hang in there buddy!

  Great post! You ask good questions. Unfortunately there are no answers that will make any sense. They have been getting away with it for a very long time and will probably continue to. For me, it's a matter of acceptance. My mom - and many millions of others - buy into every insane ranting word spoken by the WTS. Nevermind the evidence against them. Nevermind the lost family members. Talk about the discrepancies and you're a vile apostate.

  July 8th Awake On Adolescence & Puberty

  last night my mate and i read three articles from the july 8th awake on adolescence & puberty.

  i vasilated between laughing my ass off and being apalled.

  the first article is only a one page intro to the next two articles, it is entitled, the joys and challanges of adolescence it basically says that we are "living in critical times hard to deal with"(2tim 3:1) so this adds to the pressures on youths.

  I was thinking of how we were not allowed to read those evil teen magazeens because of the bad association, loose morals, and idolism promoted in in them, hmm, I wonder who at Watchtower is reading Teen Magazines.It's so loving of them to risk their spirituality and morals to get this important info to us?

  1995 no big deal??

  when i discovered - only recently - the the masthead of the awake was changed in 1995 to eliminate "our creators promise" i found it apalling.

  it was a promise people!!

  i am curious, did the wtbts write articles or discuss this radical change or did they just slip it in?
