Small world...I live in Louisiana but often go to Denver to visit my sister and her kids. Love it there - especially in the summer when it is way to hot and humid in New Orleans.

I never knew

it's amazing how different it is now.

Ezekiel - Great find w/ the QFR The inclusion of the information about Lot and his daughters in the Scriptural record should really help us to appreciate that the Bible is a book of truth. Even when persons who were known as God?s servants became involved in improper acts, the Bible does not conceal this.(But the WTBTS does a very good job of hiding their improper acts.) However, at all times such things are recounted, not to entertain or to stimulate a desire to indulge in immoral conduct, but to provide a background for understanding other events.
Why would they even think of that - not to stimulate desire. Can you say "projection?" (putting your own unacceptable thoughts/desires onto someone else)

How long does it take you in the morning to have a peek at this board?

i mean, do you have breakfast first, get washed first....or are you just programmed to turn on your computer and check out the topics the moment you get up and then get on with your day.

I recently bought a Bible after not having one or cracking one open for 18 years. It's amazing how different it is now. I thought it was all mumbo jumbo contradictions and insane ramblings. (okay - some of it is) Today I read the story of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis. I never knew the story of Lot's 2 daughters getting him drunk and having sex with him and having children for him. And Lot didn't know it happened...Yea right! So am I to understand that whatever the people in S/G were doing was worse than incest?? UGH! And Lot's wife was turned into a piller of salt for looking back at her burning home, friends and family. Grrrr. And Lot skates by, drunk and happily laid by his 2 beautiful daughters. Ugh!! Again!!
Also....why wasn't this story in our nice little bible story book?? Tehehe Can you imagine the WT pictures depicting that?!?!
Am I the only one who doesn't get it??

LABD - in your first post you highlighted the 2nd meaning. But based on your last post - it appears one would need to apply the 1st meaning: capacity to endure pain or hardship
To me, tolerance of anothers view that is in conflict with mine is a lot easier to tolerate if it does not harm me. The JW doctrines have harmed me and my whole family.

Prepare for an encounter with a JW
by Sirona inafter reading cyber-sister's post about a jw who knocked on her door, i thought it might be a good idea to talk about preparing ourselves for the almost inevitable time when a jw will try to "preach to us" and try to get us to return.. like cyber-sister i met a jw fairly recently who immediately started preaching to me.
she said jehovah had removed his holy spirit from me and that is why i can't see the "truth".
at the time i was taken unawares and didn't really know what to say, apart from that i don't believe it anymore.

This is a great thread!! I am all for planting seeds. I feel I have a sort of duty to inform and plant seeds whenever possible. It may be their only chance to learn the truth! haha - that sounds like a dub. But really - I know my mom is too loyal to read a book or do an internet search. I can only hope that someday she will knock on one of your doors!!
