  I managed to see a preview of your book, and you say on page 340 that Charles Taze Russell's Uncle was a Mason.
  
  However, Barbara Anderson states that Charles Tays Russell wasn't.
  
  Were you referring to Charles Tays or another uncle of Russell???
  
  Here is what Barbara says:
  
  I requested historical information from the ANCIENT ACCEPTED SCOTTISH RITE OF FREEMASONRY, VALLEY OF PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA, asking if Charles Taze Russell, his father, Joseph Lytel Russell, and his uncle, Charles Tays Russell, were Pennsylvania Freemasons.

  This is the answer I received in a letter:

  “AFTER A SEARCH OF OUR RECORDS, WE DETERMINED THAT THE THREE RUSSELLS WERE NOT MEMBERS OF OUR ORGANIZATION.”

  I never checked back with Ms. Waldman to see whether the other two Russell’s were Pennsylvania Freemasons, but there has never been any evidence they were, so I didn’t bother.

  Sorry, didn't mean to slight you. Thank you for the information. The reason I didn't mention you is that A Separate Identity lists Bruce as the only author.
  
  I thank you for your work, however, and thank you for the input. I am glad Bruce is an honest historian. Can't wait to read his (your?) book!!

  Has anyone done a point by point refutation of Fritz Springmeier's The Watchtower and the Masons: A Preliminary Investigation?

  is there a point by point refutation of that book?it's the source of all of the "russell was a mason" conspiracy.

  i started reading the book and i noticed some pretty obvious holes in the argument... for example, he writes that the pyramid-shaped monument is "proof" and we all know it isn't.here is the book if you want to check it out.https://archive.org/details/fritzspringmeierthewatchtowerandthemasons1990_201603.

  Thank you, Wifibandit! That means now that I know the author is a "he", his name is Bruce.
  Now to find out if he is/was a JW or what relationship he has had with the Watchtower.

  I am writing an article on whether C.T. Russell was a Mason. I am of the opinion that he was not, given the evidence.

  I just bought B.W. Schulz's book, A Separate Identity: Organizational Identity Among Readers of Zion’s Watch Tower: 1870-1887, I can't wait to get my hands on it, it seems like it's going to be quite a dense read.
  
  The thing is, I have no idea who B.W. Schulz is. I don't know if the author is a man or a woman, if he/she is a JW, a Bible Student, an exJW, or what. (I am going to refer to the author as a "he").
  
  Certainly his website doesn't give me too much confidence that he's not biased. It's a blog called truthhistory...
  
  From the reviews, however, it seems to be a "neutral" book. We'll have to see.
  
  Does anyone know about the author?
