I'm a bit confused now, is it actually officially closing down through planned choice or has it simply crashed / experiencing temporary technical issues?
Hi Simon,
If it's the latter then I'm not interested in taking advantage of someone else's issues to effectively go into competition with them.
Is someone definitely in contact with the owners of the site about the plans for it?
The owner of the site placed a post a couple of days ago saying that it was no joke, that they were dead serious, they were shutting down the forum come December.
I think that it crashed because many users tried to download the entire forum all at once. I am not technical but that is my hunch.
I don't have a direct contact with the forum owners, but at least as of the last moment before it crashed, it was going to be shut down. -

I am deeply ashamed that I didn't accept evolution until a few years ago...
by ILoveTTATT2 inso... i live in mexico and i am helping with an esl class (english as a second language).
actually, i am helping with two classes.
i get two days a week in which i just stand there and have a debate with the class, encouraging as many as possible to just talk... in english.. anyways, i like talking about subjects that generate debate.

You sound like a good person with an interesting job ILoveTTATT2!
Thank you!
I volunteer for it actually, no payment no nothing. I do get great pleasure helping people and also getting to know people. I work from home all day and after being a JW, this helps a lot with rebuilding a friends list! -

Hi Outlaw,
Thank you for the words.
However, I realized yesterday that my disbelief in evolution was not because I was simply religious... it was a whole different level... I was kinda expecting my "problem" to be something that was relatively common among the "never been a JW"... but no! It was specifically a problem of being in a fundamentalist cult! -

So... I live in Mexico and I am helping with an ESL class (English as a Second Language). Actually, I am helping with two classes. I get two days a week in which I just stand there and have a debate with the class, encouraging as many as possible to just talk... in English.
Anyways, I like talking about subjects that generate debate. So yesterday, I asked both classes (like 40 people) if they believed evolution was true.
I was shocked, completely shocked, to learn that over 90% of the people in both classes said yes!
Let me remind you... this is in Mexico, where, by far, in terms of a large country, the JW's are the most successful in the entire world. (You may say it's the US but actually in terms of publisher to population ratio, Mexico beats the US by miles). Over 82% of the population is Catholic. It is a very religious country.
It not only shocked me but made me feel ashamed. Very ashamed. It showed me the degree of fundamentalism that the cult imposed upon me.
Maybe it's because the people that go to those classes are the "cream of the crop" in Mexico?
Maybe it's the new generation?
I don't know...

@suavojr: The site admin said it wasn't a joke, that they were closing down the site come December.
@Sanchy: Pretty sure.
@Crazyguy: I have been working on it for the past two years. About 30% of the site has been translated already. See www.verdadtj.com
@sp74bb: Would you consider merging into this site?
@Simon: I would be willing to moderate it with sp74bb, if he wants. -

Watchtower Reader - Perhaps aka Watchtower Library Bethel Edition?
by ILoveTTATT2 inthe spanish exjw forum) is closing soon.
(but that's a whole different topic).someone found an app called watchtower reader, i have the 2006 version in spanish, and it seems like it's a special edition of the wt library app that has much more than the regular wt library.. for example, it has:awakes up to 1960 (this is not even found in the english wt library).
wt up to 1960 (found up to 1950 in the wt library in english but only up to 1970 in spanish).organized to accomplish your ministry (2005).anyone here know or could get this in the english version and the latest they can find?

Corpus Linguistics - Text Analysis of All Watchtower Publications since 1800's
by objectivetruth ini've been working on a side project for a while.
the goal of the project is to create a comprehensive database of all publications throughout history.
with this database i will be able to instantly find trends in text, sentiment of writing, methods used, and scriptures emphasized.. essentially i will be able to put a word like "apostate" into my tool, and instantly receive a report showing every time the word (or similar words) has been used in all publications since 1870.. i will also be able to create reports showing word density used in publications over time.. so i'll be able to see that the word "governing body" has increased in usage 25% year over year since 1975.. or i will be able to analyze the november 2014 wt and run an algorithm that helps to determine, what the tone and motive of the writing is.. the thing that i am most excited about is the ability to instantly find every occurence of a scripture in every publication.. this will be a great tool to find flip flops in doctrine as well as inaccuracies in biblical interpretation.. i will for sure publish all interesting findings here.. .
