  As a JW youth, did you have a shared sense of history with other JW youths?

  during my school years, i was bullied almost every day at school due to my being a jw, and this did nothing for my self esteem and confidence.

  compounding this problem, was the fact that i had not a single friend my own age in the kingdom hall, i had no social life and nothing to do at the weekends.

  in short, i became a social recluse.. of course, admitting this is hard, and things are very much different now since i moved.. but not having any friends in my old kingdom hall, did not mean there was no one there my own age.

  Truthseeker................

  Thank you for the wonderful post. I don't know how old you are but I am a 57 year old fader and ex elder. Everything you wrote hit me right in the heart. For years ........I SAW this kind of behavior going on but was clueless as what to do about it. On the occasion I brought the subject up to my fellow elders.........they just brushed it off as youthful crap.........because it was mostly THEIR kids doing the snubbing of other young ones not "well connected" so to speak. Deny it all they want.........but there is a caste system in the org...........

  I am sorry to say that my own daughter was one of the victims. The PO's kids were the meanest bastards ever. I hated them and others for how they treated my kid. I just wish I had the cajonies (balls) to tell them all to go to hell 15 years ago. But thank God.........my daughter has a great life(out of the borg). The ones who "persecuted" her because they thought she didn't fit in are all having problems today.......bad and broken marriages and I am not feeling sorry for them. I am happy to be out and free.

  My advice is to get involve in any type of social program that helps others (charities). I have done this and have been greatly rewarded. Yes......being a dub encourages us not to help anyone or anything.....but volunteering for anything will introduce you to tons of people who REALLY care about the welfare of their fellow man. And you may even find that lifelong soulmate....someone who learns to love you for who and what you are........not what you do!

  Pathological fears?

  what do you fear the most?.

  we were relocating a person who works with us to another place , turns out she had a pathological fear of dwarfs and since one worked there she came running back to us.... not sure i have any real pathological fears, however i remember having to get out of pitsburgh due to the high buildings, then i couldnt stay in new york when i saw the hight of the twin towers and other buildings, dont know if i was pathologically scared or just totally overwhelmed.. anyway, whats your fear?.

  My fear is breathing water...........in other words.......DROWNING!

  And..........I am afraid of heights which doesn't make sense since I am a licensed pilot. But in the plane...the feeling of security is being surrounded by metal ( the structural diety that will prevent me from falling)

  Brummie..........what were you doing in MY 'burgh"...........Pittsburgh .........and when.? I will welcome anyone in this forum if they come here.

  after a year of inactivity, research and soul searching, i still have one lingering question to the posters out there.

  what are alternate uses of wt books?

  i currently use 4 bound volumes to hold up a couch with a broken leg, we're getting a new couch, so there's 4 back into circulation.

  Just this past year...................

  I gave boxes and boxes of books and bound volumes dating from 1969 to Goodwill.

  And garbage bags full of magazines and tracts that I never could place went to the landfill.........A.K.A. the GARBAGE dump.

  Wait a minute...............just wait....................what is wrong with your thinking?

  When are all of us going to realize that nothing bad happens to ANYONE who is not a JW?

  Only JW's have this bad juju come upon them.......according to the borg!

  What the WTBTS fails to admit is the violence and death to all other "Christian" religions. They will beat themselves and dress in sackcloth and ashes about the death of a "few" brothers and sisters.............but turn a blind eye to the hundreds and even thousands of christians in SUDAN (and other places) who are being tortured.....raped........put into slavery.........and murdered only because they adhere to basic christian principles and not Islam or whatever the religion of the day is in those "prehistoric" lands.

  The majority of JW's don't have a clue to what is happening in the world. They only know what they are told by dubland. (God...........does this piss me off) This is one of the things that festered in me for years..........the society not even acknowledging the persecution of others..........ONLY JW'S are persecuted in their eyes.

  I don't often rant and rave ...........but get me going on something like this and I will take on the entire Circuit Assembly.........(if only they would let me be a guest speaker)

  The last time they let me speak was in 1994........and only because I followed the robotic outline THEY gave me and had to practice twice before the ASS embly. Damn..........the gas it took to drive to the assembly hall all those times..........

  Do you feel you will always be "different" from the "world" ?

  all of my life,, except for the last two years i was a jw, and i wonder if i will always feel like i am still so very different from the rest of most everyone i know.

  i guess i still feel like i am on the "outside" looking in, in on the world of the people i was so alienated from for so long.. i celebrate birthdays, all the holidays, i stand for the national anthemn, but still it does not quiet feel second nature to me .

  as i stand watching my son play high school football, my mind is always wandering on the marvel of what i am seeing.

  BTW................for all of my over 30 some years as a dub............if we (as a family) were anywhere like a sporting event or some kind of show where the National Anthem was played..............we always made sure we were standing BEFORE they played it. That way.........we bastardized and salved our borg conscience that we didn't stand and take part in this "satanic" salute...........we were ALREADY STANDING when it started, so it was all ok. (Anyone else do this?) And believe me..............I saw a lot of other dubs do the same thing.

  and me.. well everytime I do something I didn't do before, it bothers me that I haven't done it before. I feel stupid

  I've been out for a few years but a little over 2 weeks ago I wrapped my first birthday presents to my daughter. And she is now 33 yrs. old. It felt strange but VERY liberating doing the gift wrap. Made me feel kind of "giddy" doing it even though my wrapping skills need to be developed!

  Now I can't wait until Xmas to buy and wrap a lot of presents for a lot of people. G*d Dammit...........why did we have to miss all of this as dubs? Makes me really pissed to think of all the birthdays and whatnot that was stolen from ones we loved.

  Over the years.......we(close jw family "inlaws") would privately give a present to the kids on their birthdays and let them know "that even though we don't celebrate birthdays" we want you to know that this is a special day that Jehovah brought you into our lives............. What sick idiots we all were!

  CELEBRATE, CELEBRATE, CELEBRATE........the person and his/her day. Damn........we celebrated the day of death better than a day of life in dubdumb.

  Always celebrated my wedding anniversary...........big time with big gifts........but that was OK. Where is the scriptural difference? AINT NONE!

  Haven't got into voting yet but am now registered.......both guys suck big time (IMHO) and I won't pick the lesser of 2 evils. But in all my years in industry and being a union man and a "dub", I always voted in the union elections. But I was told that was ok......YEP! WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE between a union rep and a council, town, burg, city or country rep?

  If you haven't noticed..........I LOVE MY NEW LIFE AS AN XJW.

  I have lot's of Domain cuz my daughter is a MK rep and she gives it to me for free. (yeah.......I'm a cheapskate)
