  This is a great topic and has brought back some somewhat "good" memories when I was an elder and trying to do right.

  My daughter says I was a good elder and most of the teenagers liked me along with the rest of the congregation. She says that what xjw said about her dad also applies to me. Makes me feel good that I tried to do the right thing.

  Steve. Your words remind me a lot of my dad. He too wrestled with his emotions, and also garnered a reputation as being a caring, compassionate person. This often led to disagreements with fellow elders, especially with regards to JCs, and run ins with COs and DOs

  I never had a run in with the CO's and DO's though. I never liked them because whenever they would come around, they really didn't care what peoples problems were. They just wanted the cong. to keep the status quo.

  Like you Steve.........I'm glad I saw the light and am now free and happy.

  I never thougt of that. It would be fantastic if JW parents were charged and prosecuted all over the country for not reporting molestation.

  Wonder what the elders who covered it up would do................disfellowship the parents for committing a crime?

  ok...we have been stocking up our liquor bar....and i saw this whisky: macnaughton for super cheap.....................(it says it is a canadian whiskey...but don't believe it........i know canadian whiskey's...this doesn't qualify).

  This Yank used to think that Johnny Walker Red was the elixer of life........................until I tried and learned to love Jamison's Irish Whiskey.............the BEST 'sipping' whiskey in my opinion. If you have a better one.........tell me. I would like to try it.

  The WT society always plays this up as if ONLY they were being persecuted.......because ONLY they are real Christians.

  When you look at the real facts.............Christians in general are being persecuted, raped, maimed, killed and whatever other hideous thing can be done at a much higher percentage than JW's in these "prehistoric" countries such as Sudan, Afghanistan, Rwanda and others...........and most of it is being perpetrated by the "whacko" Muslim sects with their psycho warlords.

  Sorry Brooklyn............you are a persecuted minority compared to the 10's of thousands of Christians who are bearing the real brunt of this "satanic" persecution.

  I know first hand about ovarian cancer and it's effects. You wrote:

  Five years ago my mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and the last couple years of her life she went back to studying with the Witnesses. My mother died from the cancer a year ago this past September. My older sister, who had never been a Witness, was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer (she's now stage 4) two weeks before my mother died.

  I lost my wife to this 8-1/2 years ago and it was devastating. My 33 year old daughter has become somewhat of an expert in studying this disease since it runs in the family. Recently, she was turned down for health insurance because she has every year and insists on the CA 125 test. The insurance carriers don't want to face the facts about this silent killer.

  i had this bizarre urge the other day to walk into a kh (i am df-d by the way) and play dumb .

  not tell anyone that i ever had any affiliation with the witnesses and lead them all on.

  oh, to see the looks on the faces of some when they came to find out they were associating with a df-ed person (gasp).

  Let us know about the response. I thought about doing that myself while I'm staying at my daughter's place in Florida. There is a KH a mile down the road. But I don't think they will appreciate me coming in jeans or shorts. That's all I have to wear these days. Got rid of all my suits! I'll be heading back to western PA at the end of the month and can't wait to freeze my a** off again.

  I remember hearing a tape that was being passed around a number of years ago. (JW's love to think they are associated with famous people) by a "brother" Reynolds. He was part of the group Hamilton, Joe, Frank and Renolds who had a few megahits in the mid to late 1970's. In his talk he talked about leaving the music scene for something better. He even did a music skit in this talk that started his career. In the 1960's there was a TV commercial for........if my mind serves me right........something for the stomach. (what shape your stomach's in) The little "ditty" was just an instrumental percussion in the commercial that went something like.........(and I'm trying to put words to percussion)..........tutty-tutty-ta-ta..ta-tutty-ta-ta.

  Yeah.......I know! You all are going to try and have me committed now.

  wow, where to start?

  well a couple of months ago, when i went to the assembly, seeing my sisters all skinny, and then going to bed bath & beyond and stepping on a scale....triggered me.

  I THREW A TANTRUM.......did you?!

  when i realized, i needed to debunk the wts, i threw a tantrum.. the society's appointed elders were responsible for going to court and reversing a restraining order my husband had for sole custody of his children.

  his x-wife threatened to kill them.

  he had a psychiatrist's paper work that she needed mental help.

  Question for Christians on this board!

  do you believe the bible is the word of god?

  i ask because i believe it's important for searching jws who come here to not only learn if there are christians here but also to hear from them personally what their thoughts on the bible are.

  i believe the bible is the word of god, do other chriatians here also believe that?.

  Greenpalm...

  I absolutely believe that the Bible is God's word - read it every day - the only diff is, I read it now for what it says, and not the interpretation of a legalistic board of rules that the WTS, IMHO, has become.

  I am glad to see and hear these kinds of thoughts here - I think most of us became 'Chrstian witnesses' - I for one did not lose that faith, just faith in the WTS. Thanx for asking
