yesterday my wife and i enjoyed one of our regular days out at edinburgh - movie, lunch, walk, meal etc.. in the late afternoon while mrs cofty went shopping i had an hour at the excellent museum of scotland and arranged to meet up outside the national gallery on princes street.
on my way back i saw the jw trolley was at the usual spot on the royal mile.
there was an older man and a young woman standing well back trying hard to look inconspicuous.
Well done Cofty!
Sure wish I had conversational ability like you.

i'm sure there are countless opinions on whether you should get a tattoo or not.
my personal view is that if you were to get one it should mean something.. anyone get a tattoo to remember their jw roots?
i was thinking of getting a tetragrammaton somewhere.
Got my first and only tattoo when I turned 60, nine years ago.
It's called "End Of The Trail" and depicts an Indian on his horse, both looking dragged out. I thought it was kind of significant with me being a senior citizen.
It is on my left calf and is somewhat large.

hi people,.
i want as much data as possible on the effect of the internet on the time captured by the cult.. please answer the three following questions about yourself or about someone you know (for example, if your parents or grandparents were jw's and left).
1) were you raised as a jw, or did you convert?.
HappyDad's stats:
1) were you raised as a JW, or did you convert?
Convert. Mother was a JW and convinced me it was the "Truth". Then married a JW before I was baptized.
2) when were you baptized/started seriously being with the witnesses? (Date please, i.e. 1997)
1971
3) when did you leave/woke up completely? (date please, i.e. 2013)
Started mentally fading about 1998. Started meeting fading about 1999-2000.
Last time I attended was Memorial in 2003.
32 years in.
i almost had a freaking heart attack.
i even threw my coffee cup at the wall and starting yelling like crazy when i got the the 5th number correct.
i was checking my texas lottery ticket for this past saturday.
I play Powerball lottery twice a week, buying two each day it is drawn. $8.00 a week. Bottom line is that somebody will win eventually and I stand a chance just like all the other players. I'd be happy with $1 million.

my best buddy is gone.
i attended his funeral this morning.. on thursday evening, i went to the body "viewing" and it was "family only.
" i am part of the family (through marriage) so, i was there.. i was welcomed with joy and enthusiasm like a long lost (prodigal) sheep.
Thank you Terry for sharing this. I had a friend that I met in 1987 when I was still a dub and hating who I was. At the time I was drinking like crazy and ruining my marriage all because I was fed up with being a JW. I worked with this guy at the new job I started and he was instrumental in getting me sober. Our friendship was greater than any I ever had with JW's and we kept that friendship throughout the years. He died a little over 2 years ago and I was devastated. I cried as if he were my family. He is gone, but what he did for me will never be forgotten.
My condolences to you with you loss.

if witnesses should "get out of babylon the great" then why is it ok to go into hospitals that have been set up, and have funding from churches?.
isnt that a little contradictory or hypocritical?.
When my daughter was born in 1971 our Dr. was a JW. He was somewhat borderline JW but that was ok because he was a Dr. He was a very good Dr. and a very good person and I wonder how much of the bs he actually believed. I had some very good off topic conversations with him. Anyway......he was associated with St. Joseph's Hospital in Pittsburgh and that is where my daughter was born. There were a few "easily offended and stumbled" a..holes in the cong. that had questions about the hospital but the powers that be stood firm that there was no problem.

Nice story. So happy for you since I have a daughter who is the same. I love her more than anything and she was smart enough to leave the borg a year ahead of me and I didn't know it. Now we both are happy and she loves me more than when I was a robotic elder. lol

My bottom line is........no matter what color you are.....if you are going to go and spread your legs and get pregnant by any man who wants you.......and you wind up with kids..........and don't have means to support them....aka....A JOB.......then why should my taxes from over 50 years in the work force support you with free stuff? Fuck you.......go hungry.

few of your are old enough to have been there, i suspect.
i had been in prison two years as a jw conscientious objector when the exciting news about 1975 spread like wildfire.. .
i was paroled from prison in 1969 and immediately began pioneering.
I was there and went through it. You put it perfectly Terry! Like ostriches, we just stuck our heads back in the sand.

very mad puppy.
I'm feeling for you brandnew.
In 2003 I was t-boned on my Harley 3 blocks from my house by some 87 year old man who didn't stop for a stop sign. He was upset and said he didn't see me but I still had to spend a night at the trauma unit of a major hospital in Pittsburgh. No major injuries or broken bones but I sure hurt for a month after. Flying through the air wasn't bad, but the landing was what made the hurts. I was 56 years old at the time and got more upset about the bike being totaled and haven't been on one since. You are lucky that you can still make us here on the forum feel for what happened to you and still make some light of it. Take the driver and her insurance company for everything you can.
