  On becoming a (shunned) person...

  as i walked back from the bank to my car yesterday i saw an elder and his wife from my old, old congregation.

  i waved, but they didn't see me.

  they entered their car, backed up and i stood exactly two feet away from their window smiling and waving.

  I guess I was a sorry ass JW from the beginning to the end.

  Everytime I saw a df'd JW I always said hello and even had a short conversation.....even while I was a MS and elder. Guess I still saw the "human" in those "demon posessed" outcasts. My wife who was raised in the truf did the same.

  And on one occasion, I really felt PROUD of myself when a df'd person came back to the truf and said that it was my kindness to him while he was df'd (we worked in the same place) that made him have a change of heart and come back. Oh.....I think I might cry now!

  At least this guy had enough smarts to leave again way before I did.

  the following story is about aaron davis who was recently shot to death.

  it is entitled "congregation focuses on life of shooting victim.

  aaron dvis, who died nov. 13, is remembered for his stylish attire, strong faith and cooking abilities.

  well this guy worked for the united states postal serv. so he was a hypocrite.

  What does working for the postal service have to do with anything?

  I will call you an asshole for this statement but I will also express my apologies if you have some other agenda for making such a call.

  Working for the post office NEVER was a restriction for being a JW, so why say that?

  Some of you almost sound like you are happy that this man died JUST because he is a JW.

  It wasn't but a few months ago that someone was deleted from this forum for making a similar statement but without as much venom as is posted about this case.

  Yes, that is what was put across by the society. I wish I would have kept some of the WT books for reference in order to validate some statements, but once I knew I was out completely, I knew that I didn't want to go back to reading any of their pablum again. Besides........I am not the scholarly type. I was just a blue collar "elder" trying to do the best I could with what I was TOLD was what I had to do and say. (does that make sense?) I don't think so! But how many elders are elloquent enough to make sense?

  Seriously................someone like Blondie could probably post the WT advice on that one.

  So in the meantime............I will carry my S & W model 380 just in case a pit bull or any other wild dog attacks me in the hood where I live.

  #1 Doing what I want to do to make ME happy! I spent too many decades being told that I AM happy being in the "only true religion".........only to realize that I wasn't! And believe me.....................I AM HAPPY TODAY.

  I for one hope the "truth" of this matter comes to light.

  As a concealed weapon carrier (yes I have a permit) ......if anyone comes at me with a pipe or anything else........and I can't get away..........I will.........if I'm able........pull the damn thing out and shoot them to protect my own hide. If they die in the process.........well tough shit! People should think before attacking someone.

  I think I recall a story from about 2000 years ago where a follower of Christ pulled out a sword and in the process of protecting himself and others........he cut someones ear off. And no! I do not buy the WT idea that weapons were carried only to protect oneself from the wild animals. More like two legged animals! Try carrying a sword on the street today and see what happens.

  i happen to think quite a few intelligent people have cornered the market on certain information.. when you are around other intelligent people you find in talking with them that you are incredibly more well informed about certain subjects than other people are.

  in fact, you might know things that nobody else knows anything about.. tell me what it is that you know.. i have some really quirky things i know.

  but, what do you know that sets you apart?

  When I was a dub, my "theme song" was Against The Wind by bob Seeger.

  The line that sticks out most in my head is........"surrounded by strangers I thought were my friends".

  Can't think of one that fits me today.

  i see everything falling apart.

  i have to suck it in; strike the right pose and choose the best angle to keep from grossing myself out.. what do you see?.

  First of all Terry,

  If that is really you in the picture...........then I wish I still looked that good. I'm 57 ...soon to be 58 and would like to have your hair.

  When I look in the mirror I see a man who used to think that he would always be ok...someone who could handle anything that came along. Now I see someone who has been beaten down by the 'borg'.......but someone who still hangs on with all the 'strength' he can muster.......because life is better than the alternative. I see a man who thought his world was over in April 26, 1996 when his wife (46 yrs. old) died from ovarian cancer. I see a man who at one time thought he lost the only person since the death of his wife who mattered to him.....'MY DAUGHTER'.......but he was wrong. They are closer than ever and have a deep love and affection.....and respect for each other. I see a man who never thought he could or would fall in love again.......but he was wrong........he fell.....and he fell VERY HARD for someone on this board. It was the most beautiful thing he has experienced in years. She felt the same way about him. They remain best friends.......but now.....what he feels... and emotionally and heartfelt put into this relationship is no longer reciprocated to the extent that he would like. I see a man who will continue to do all he can in life and feel that "AGE IS ONLY AN ATTITUDE".

  I might be getting older but I refuse to grow up! I WILL SURVIVE.
