  Vigil for my daughter, please.

  as mentioned in my other thread, my daughter lena is having brainsurgery on monday, jan 24. the surgery will last 6-7 hours, so i'm hoping the board members will be willing to make a special effort tomorrow to send positive thoughts, healing energy, good wishes and prayers her way.

  we are asking that the surgeon's hands be delicate and skillful and that lena does not bleed overmuch and that brain damage be minimal (if not non-existant).

  surgery begins at 8 am eastern standard time (us), but we have to have her to the hospital by 6 am, so this is "good night!

  hi- does anyone know where i can find the crisis of conscienece book?

  i can't order it online because i don't have a credit card.

  i have checked at all the local bookstores- they have never heard of it.

  I went to Barnes & Noble and although they didn't have it there, they ordered it

  This is how I got mine also. Doing it this way you can pay cash if you don't have a credit card.

  Was Johnny Carson pro JW?

  does anyone remember one of his shows from the late 1970's when john denver was on the show?

  i never saw the show but heard about it in the jw circle (urban legend??).

  it was known that john denver hated jw's and during their bantering, carson asked denver about his asking jw's to leave during his concerts.

  The story about Glen Campbell was a little different around my area. It was told that he had studied with the JW's and when it came time to make a decission about baptism, he wouldn't do it. So he wrote Rhinestone Cowboy as his testimony. Who knows?

  I don't think a certain post was combative. You were expressing emotion and we all do that from time to time.

  You are a great poster and please don't think otherwise. There have been a few posts that I got kind of nasty on myself and appologized afterwards. Getting nasty isn't my style and when I was, there were other things on my mind.

  It was known that John Denver hated JW's and during their bantering, Carson asked Denver about his asking JW's to leave during his concerts. When Denver confirmed this was true, Carson said: "I have an Aunt who is a JW" and see that cameraman there? He is a JW and one of the finest people I know.......so now I'm throwing you off of my show". And from what I heard at the time, Denver got up and left.

  Is any of this true......or just more JW legend?

  He was a great tv personality. I remember always watching his show when I got home from the 3-11 shift. He will be missed.

  Green Bible/Black Bible...?

  can any one tell me what the 'significant differences' are between the old green bible and new black bible?.

  having been a jw for almost forty years i never knew of a difference except that my mum is the only jw i know who still uses one.

  is it possible that i could show her anything 'interesting'?

  have a sneaking suspicion, that when the congregation library was 'renovated' my dad took the old....old.....old original Watchtower and Golden Age Volumes. They are very big, with gold embossed writing and a very dark green colour. They also have some of the books with the scary pictures in that I was not allowed to look in when I was little.

  That stuff is worth a small fortune on eBay. Just check what some of the stuff is going for. I have listed right now the book "Faith On The March" by A.H. Macmillan and the bids are up to $31.00 US and still have days to go on the auction.
