You probably think I need mental counseling but I am moving from southwest Florida to Minnesota. I was just there last week in the -29 degree weather to close on a house I bought in Oakdale, Minnesota. Being a Florida resident for 5 years has taught me that it is no longer the paradise that people think it is. The only ones who can be comfortable in southwest Florida are the well heeled retirees who can afford one home in their northern home state and another one here. The working class cannot afford to live comfortable here anymore since the wages are 20 some years behind the times. Thankfully I have a half decent pension but even with that, the rent and cost of living are above what my income can do. I was lucky enough to get a VA loan even at my age. My monthly total with the mortgage, insurance, taxes and HOA fees is $300.00 a month less than what I have to pay for rent in Bonita Springs. So Minnesota is going to be my new home. Anyhow...……...the gist of this post is to see if there is anyone on this forum from the Stillwater, White Bear Lake, Mahtomedi area. If so, maybe we could have a meet up in the near future.

Tag teams of Cart Sitters
by days of future passed inone sunday, we took our dad out for lunch.
since it didn't open till 12:00, we were going to have to kill time.
this restaurant is situated with other businesses around a small park and when we parked, we noticed there was a cart to the right in the park.

I love this post for the simple reason that it reminds me how stupidly I bought into this crazy religion in the first place. Knocking on doors and really believing that I was doing a good work trying to convince the householder that we JW's could show them the way to a happier life. GAG GAG PUKE PUKE!
Oh.….such wasted time when I could have stayed home on a Saturday morning doing projects around the house or out fishing or whatever.
It's been over 17 or 18 years since I knocked on a door as a JW and I don't miss it and am happier than ever.
I guess I was just a typical brainwashed cult member.

Concealed carry Dubs
by scruffmcbuff ini spent a considerable length of time living and working in america (would love to imigrate one day).. almost everyone i worked with and made friends with carried a concealed firearm of somesort.
i found this pretty interesting and as an avid firearm fan even more so.. so to our american members here... .
as a jw did you or did you know any practising dubs who carried or if not had firearms for home defence?

I know and knew of many JW's in states such as Colorado who have firearms of all types. They go hunting for deer and elk. They also have handguns out the wazoo but I would bet that they do not conceal carry at all.

What immodest clothing have you got in trouble for wearing?
by Addison0998 ini personally have a very distinct sense of style and fashion which many of the fellow jdubs frown upon.
recently, i was told by a few specially self righteous ones that i looked like a prostitute in a pair of white boots!
a pair of 3 inch heeled, just a little taller than the ankle boots, with skirt that came down to my knees and a black long sleeve shirt that came up to my collarbone.

Do Jehovah`s Witnesses lie to receive Government benefits ?
by smiddy3 injehovah`s witnesses do not respect the ,governments of any nation from my experience with "witnesses" over 33 years as a card carrying member.
the governments are to be exploited taking advantage of all the provisions govt`s, hand out to their citizens.after all the govts, are under the control of satan the devil ,he is the ruler of this world and is at enmity with god.. so they feel justified in practicing deception as they the gov`ts.
being opposer`s of truth have no right to know the real truth.. i personally knew of pioneers who had no intention of finding work but were happy to take unemployment benefits from the govt.

In the early to mid 1980's when the steel mills were closing down in the Pittsburgh area, one "brother?" in the congregation wouldn't take any of the retraining the companies offered. Instead, he went on welfare after all of his benefits ran out. He had 4 kids and got money and food stamps like you wouldn't believe. On the other hand, some other "brothers?" like my self, took part time jobs as janitors even if it lowered our weekly unemployment benefits. That way, because you were still paying into the system, our unemployment checks were extended up to another 6 months to a year. This lazy idiot wound up getting a job with the postal service as a deliveryman. What pissed me off was the fact that he got a great job with great benefits and a lot of us continued to struggle making a living. There might have not been cheating on his part, but some lazy JW's get breaks that industrious ones don't. So glad I'm not part of the cult anymore!
Edited to say: I just remembered something about this kook. He once said that all dogs were demonized and that he wouldn't eat turkey because satan is behind turkeys and Thanksgiving. He went on to become an elder after I resigned as in elder in 1991 or 1992.
