Since I was a JW at the time - both people were overseas. I'm guessing they still are overseas. I say both because it depends on what kind of virginity we're talking about.

Do you know where the first person you had sex with, lives now?
by free2beme ini was actually baptized in my early 20's, so i spent some time as a teen and early twenties doing things that were not witness-like.
one of those things was sex out of marriage and to be honest, i have no regrets.
i have wondered though sometimes, where is that person i shared such a landmark moment with in life.

LOOKS OR PERSONALITY?
by Mary inok, if you had to choose between looks and personality, which wins?
guys: if a girl is only mediocre in the looks department but is absolutely fab-u-lous in the personality dept...........which is more important to you?
or are they equally important?

Personality wins out. Spirituality wins out as well. Guys who are religious, however, are a HUGE turnoff.

The fear of "spontaneous sex"
by free2beme inwhen i was young and single and a witness.
i remember often the fear older people had of putting young people together alone.
not just for dating, but even leaving them in a car while an older couple went to a return visit.

This thread cracked me UP.
It's all TRUE! How sad. No wonder so many exJWs are preoccupied w/ sex!

How did you overcome the allure of Paradise? Or have you?
by M.J. ini think the biggest reason someone maintains their faith in the wts is because the wts is the "ticket" to paradise earth.. how did you deal with the prospect that the "ticket" salesmen weren't totally reliable?.
did it cause you to let go of your hope in paradise earth?
did it redirect it to another hope?.

I think the promise of the paradise is what keeps my Mom involved in the organization. She ALWAYS brings the Paradise up w/ me in conversation. She wants to see her Father again.
It's funny because she makes fun of other religions that believe in things that seem so "out there" - but SHE believes in a future Paradise.
Anyways, I feel like the Paradise is from within. I don't think it'll happen on planet Earth.
We make our own reality. I have lived in Hell and in Paradise. Right now, i'm kind of in the middle but - I need to work on that.
I also don't believe in Paradise on Earth because then, life would be boring. Why would God create a life where you can't compae good and bad experiences? How would we learn? Why would we strive for anything? Wouldn't we get complacent?

Are you Christmas-retarted?
by Thegoodgirl inhi guys, haven't posted in a while, but i don't see this topic covered: is anyone else out there as christmas retarted as me?
i feel so awkward stumbling over the words "merry christmas" to friends.
also, who do you buy for?

I'm XMas-challenged. i have trouble saying "Merry Christmas" and don't feel it makes any sense to actually.
The gift thing feels like an obligation. It really does. The card thing also feels like an obligation. So I haven't bougt any cards and haven't purchased any gifts.
i was invited to a friend's family's house for Christmas Day ... but I declined. I really don't want to DO Christmas.
I WOULD however celebrate Saturnalia. That makes more sense to me. The obligatory red, green, etc .... stockings, same-ol-same ol Christmas thing turns me off. I feel like if and when I DO celebreate it, it'll be different. I want it to mean something personally since I don't understand nor appreciate the traditions.

Being sexually virtuous, useful or a waste of time?
by greendawn indo you think there is any benefit at all in being virtuous sexually, ie foregoing sexual gratification, or is it a total waste of time and effort as our atheist friends would say?
is there anything to be gained by it, would you find a virtuous person a more trustworthy partner for example?
does it make for more stable marriages?

What do you mean by "virtuous?"

Genesis - Welcome! First off i'm a fitness junkie (it's my field) so the fact that you're into bodybuilding and NLP totaly got me excited :-). In response to your post: <<But the fact is that im tired of the fear. The fear of the gods wrath, of dying in Harmagguedon of being disfellowshipped of bein a mean person..... I think its not God love.>> I agree. I don't feel that God can support an organization that is so fear-based. Fear is the opposite of love. i think we're on the same page. << And im tired of having others saying waht to think>> Exactly. Having other people tell you what to do/think/act hinders your own personal growth. When you do eventually leave the organization, you will experience growing pains initially. It's inevitable but they DO go away. You'll be fine. But it does take time to 'find yourself" after being sheltered for so long. It's almost like being let loose in a foreign land. But it'ds a GOOD thing. Dont' let it scare you back into the "safety" of the organization. It's stiff but stifling. you cannot live up to your full potential while living as JW in my opinion. When you say "depressed," what do you mean? <<I think that maybe i should replace my social circle before leaving, job and thoughts and then when i will have a backup frame i will leave the old one>> Good idea. One of my friends did this. It helped him tremendously. <<Are ou afraid, outside do you sometimes that youre wrong and the end of the world is coming soon ? How do you feel your spiritual needs ?>> Never. Expose yourself to other belief systems. you've been taught that the JW way is the only way. JW beliefs are right, everyone else's a wrong. You'll soon realize that they are like every other extreme group of thinkers or like every other extreme religious group. You'll be fine! :-)
