Blindersoff,
How 'bout sending one to my old boss in you-know-where....he never did care much for the Witnesses. He told me once that he thought it was funny that we didn't celebrate Christmas but would accept a Christmas bonus....
as i started to get into the nuts & bolts of emailing the press release about quotes to my local newspaper, i wound up wondering who to send it to.
should it go to the editor, publisher, janitor?.
should we 'take out a territory'?

anybody else love this movie as much as i did??
i think it says a lot about the type of person you are, or at least what kind of sense of humor you have, if you liked this movie or hated it.. so far, i've not met anyone who has been neutral on this movie - usually they either love it or hated it!
I think this is the "16 Candles" of the early 2000's. A classic. It's one of those that I watched and was like, "Eh, it's o.k.", but then the more I thought about it, the funnier it got. I've seen it about 100 times....lol.
band with central ohio roots revisits basics of heavy metal
columbus dispatch (subscription), oh - 9 minutes ago .
... metal.
Sweet....
Joining the Dave Mustaine as a JW youth turned metal musician - well, and about a hundred thousand others we just haven't heard of. My parents weren't real keen on a lot of my music growing up - Ozzy, Twisted Sister, Slayer....
Just FYI, there's a band out of Houston called Azreal's Bane that are very Maiden-esque. I saw them live at a show here in town recently and they did an awesome cover of "Wasted Years" and "Diary of a Madman". If you like that 80's metal sound, these guys are great.....
.
so, which one of you called in yesterday to talk to russ about the jws in relation to his question about their policy on the pledge of allegiance?
i almost did myself, but just knew that there had to be others dialing the number already.
Daystar,
I sent you a PM about Russ...he was great on the Eagle, as were Kramer and Twitch. Make one little joke about Britney Spears and get fired.....
believe it or not, i just saw lotr for the first time this weekend.
being a good little dub, i thought it was "deemo" and refused to see it when it came out.
i finally got over myself and watched the first two movies this weekend and omg!
You'll love the last one, my only complaint was that they drew the end out a bit more than they needed to. If you read the book you'll understand why, they may have been trying to pacify the "truists". However for someone that has not read the novels I think it just didn't flow right at the end.
Funny, that was my only complaint too. I thought the end was WAY too long and drawn out. I thought these were the best book to movie adaptations I had ever seen. Wonderfully done. What I thought was so cool was the casting - all the characters looked just like I had pictured the 9000000000 times I read the books.....
i thought the photography was awesome and enjoyed the story.
i loved the books when i was younger and i'm glad they finally made it into a movie.
swalker.
I don't know if I should see it...it has a WITCH in it..... ;-)
My girlfriend can't believe that I couldn't watch Bewitched, I Dream of Genie or any shows that had 'occultic' overtones when I was growing up....
484...great game.
i have a friend that was dumb enough to allow two elders in his house at the same time to talk to him, he let them in.
i have told him over and over again never to talk to two elders at the same time.
i'll get to the point.
Invite them in, 'stink-palm' them (Mallrats, anyone?), tell them he doesn't care what they do, take out an ad and publish his disassociation letter in the paper, and be done with them.....
historians say that king herod the great the famous baby killer who sought to kill baby jesus, died in the year 4 b.c.. now all those religious groups like the jws who believe jesus was born oct 1/2, 2 b.c.
seem to have a real problem reconciling that with historians.
how could a man dead for 2 years carry out this act of aggression against the son of god?
Did anyone catch the History Channel's "Jesus" weekend? They had an excellent couple of hours on the origins of the Christmas "story" and discussed both the timing of Jesus' birth and the story of Herrod's "slaughter of the innocents".
It was pretty interesting. The thought on the Herrod story was that: a) Herrod could have and would have committed such an atrocity, as he even had a number of his own family members murdered, b) The population of Bethlehem was so small that it may have only comprised 20 children, thus having been insignificant enough to escape the radar, c) that it probably didn't happen and was a ripoff of the "Moses" story used to try and give credibility to the Messiah.
As to Jesus' birth year, they claim that it is most likely between 4-6 B.C. When the Roman researcher who established the modern AD calender did his research, he basically didn't do it right and thus the error.
we all remember one of the arguments the society used to make christmas look bad.. they said christendom at this time of the year, see's jesus as a little baby in a manger (nativity scene), rather than the king in heaven he now is.
that's a lie.. ask any christian on this planet if they think jesus at this time is a little baby in a manger.
if he was, then mary is back on earth taking care of him and herod is out looking to kill him.
One of these years, I STILL want to put up a nativity scene in front of our kingdom hall on Christmas eve right after dark. I'll prolly get caught too.
Gumby,
Call me and I'll be happy to help....maybe string up some Christmas lights and a big star on top of the hall....
