"Deliverance At Hand" 2006 Convention
by drew sagan inmany of us are familiar with the theme of this years district convention, "deliverance at hand".
i don't know if the publication release has been leaked yet, but i thought it might be fun to speculate about what it possibly could be.
i'll start it off... .

In order to facilitate the simplification arrangement with regard to taking meals outside the convention centers
Translation:
We know 30% of the 'flock' is leaving at 11 a.m. to beat the lunch rush, having a couple of margaritas over lunch, then not returning until 2 p.m. because of the 'lunch rush' that they somehow didn't manage to beat. Therefore, there will be barbed wire, guard towers (er, watchtowers?), land mines, and German Shepherds placed outside of the convention facility to ensure that you are able to partake of the quality spiritual food provided by the FDS. Oh, btw, you are not being prevented from using your free will. Oh, and please only stay at our hotels, even if all the rooms are full. Stay 3 families to a room if necessary.
Sincerely,
Your Brothers in Selling Literature and Oppressing the Flock

What could I say?
by pennycandy inlet's say you go back to your hometown for a family funeral.
you're not df'd or da'd, but most haven't heard from you for many years.
you know you'll get the inevitable "so are you going to meetings?

The Drink Spill comes in handy at this point too.
See, there are many alternatives to answering the question. If it weren't for several family members who are very close to me who would be 'punished' for my actions, I'd tell them all to screw off.....

Gary,
Although your story is sad, we all know how unfortunately common it is. I applaud you for your ability to overcome it and to make the choice to do what makes you happy. Not everyone has that kind of inner fortitude. I'm fortunate that I haven't had to deal with that - well, at least not from my parents - friends and other family though is another story.
Nice to know how they label apostates as those 'hating their brothers' and 'beating their fellow slaves' - as usual with the Witnesses, everything they do is justified, while the rest of us are always in the wrong.

Shunned by a JW leading a double life
by misspeaches ini seriously do not understand how some people reason.
if they do reason at all.. my boyfriend has been friends with a couple of guys since highschool.
it turns out that both these guys are jw's.

Well, I think he isn't necessarily snubbing you but fears that you might OUT him and just doesn't know what to say or do about his situation.
Yeah, this was my first thought too.
Funny story. When I was married, my wife was a healthcare recruiter. She had recruited this guy for the local hospital and he came into town for a visit. We, being inactive at the time, took him to a few local bars and he proceeded to get loaded and talk about picking up women, and how loose were the chicks in this town, etc.
Well he took the job. A few months later, we made the Memorial (at least we still did that) and lo and behold, who was one of the ushers? This guy. He took one look at us and about dropped over from fright. He didn't say two words to us that night because I'm sure he wanted to put as much distance between his actions and us as possible.
Basically, Richard and David are typical weak witnesses - they rationalize that anything they do is o.k., because even though they are weak they at least still believe. My friends that give me such a hard time about being an 'apostate' drink too much, have many family issues, visit strip bars, smoke pot, but they have the nerve to tell me that I'm SO WRONG!!! Typical JW hypocrisy......

That Downsizing feeling...........
by Sunnygal41 in.
don't know if anyone else in the 40something age bracket have experienced the need to get rid of all the "stuff" that's just superfluous in their life or not................but, thought i'd do a poll anyways.............i want to literally clean house and go as spare as i can.............i find myself being extremely drawn to the oriental or shaker style of design and life............clean lines, colors neutral except for small shots of intense color.............everything as organic as possible...........as little to tie/weigh me down as possible in life.......... terri

Good rule of thumb I follow - if you haven't used it in 6 months, you don't need it.

Mother violates privacy and gets burned!
by Darth Yhwh ini started a word document in early october regarding the failed predictions of the wbts.
i titled it as false prophets and my intent was to have a resource for information regarding wbts publications that verified that they claimed the end of the world was happening on such and such date and they knew about it because of their privileged status of having an open frequency with the almighty itself.
the document was basically a cut and paste from the quotes website with a little commentary from myself in-between biblical and wbts quotes.

Why not just let God take care of it?
He is. He's allowing the Society's misdeeds to come to light - the UN, SilentLambs, the new info on the blood brochure. Ask her how receptive she's going to be to God's revelations about the Society?
Do you really think he needs you to help him?
No, you're just trying to be receptive to information he's presenting through 3rd party sources.
Before you sit in judgment of others, try perfecting yourself.
You don't tell other people that your word is infallible, and that if they don't accept what you say then their very salvation is at stake, even though they may admit that they are imperfect and may change their minds, er, see new light in a few years and those very beliefs may change drastically. You don't judge others by shunning them even though they are repentent of their sins.
Accept the good in people,
You're not criticizing them, or missing their good qualities, you are simply doing as the JW's suggest - searching out the truth and examining the scripture daily to see if these things are so.
Especially those who try to do right in their lives because of their religious convictions.
JW's don't accept the good in 'wordly people' even though they do right in their lives because of their religious convictions.
Look around you, can you really say this World has a lot more to offer you and your children than God can?
Sure God has a lot more to offer. But you're not talking about God - you're talking about a corrupt, deceitful organization.
Do yourself and your family a favor, read only the Bible trust it as it really is the word of God.
Exactly mom - read only the Bible, not the WT, Awake, or any Society publications and see what it REALLY has to say.
Don’t hook up with people whose total goal is to destroy the religious freedom of anyone, including Jehovah’s Witnesses.
The Witnesses do nothing but destroy freedom - freedom to conduct your life as you wish and answer to God personally for those choices.
If you love me, you will drop this obsession. It is ruining our relationship!
I hate to hear that mom. I certainly don't have any hard feelings towards you, why do you feel negatively towards me for searching out the truth? -
