Thanks everybody - were camping at the state park. Besides a pontoon reservation at the Marina, we're open for all these ideas. I like the caving and water stuff, my wife will love the outlet mall!
Thanks again everyone. I'll post pictures when I get back.

Anyway - It should be an enjoyable, albeit hot, trip. Anyone out there with Lake of the Ozarks advice or tips on what to see?
Thanks

Why porn sites, or course! That way they can feel important running around as committees and asking detailed sexual questions.

Never Forget, Religion is a Hole
by Gregor init is easy to get too curious and fall in.
you might wander around down there for years, have a family, make friends.
then you will find it is hard to get out.

I believe in live and let live and if you're religious, well then I hope you are happy. But many Christians feel that I can be the best person possible - but if I don't accept Jesus (or Buddha, Mohammed, Tom Cruise, etc), then my life was not as meaningful as theirs.

WT desparate: Aug 15 WT- In Our Next Issue: When A Loved One Leaves Jehovah
by truthseeker inno, i don't have this article yet, it will appear in the sep 1, 2006 wt.
it may even be a wt study article.. in the august 15 watchtower, the box "in our next issue" has three forthcoming articles, and one of them is "when a loved one leaves jehovah".
of interest, it's not when a loved one leaves the society, it's jehovah.. will keep you posted.

Why don't they address those that left because they don't beleive the JW doctrines? The article only mentions one who left "to lead a life of immorality".

Gregg Stafford returning to the Big O
by Amazing ingreg stafford posted on july 1, 2006 that he is returning to the organization.
you can read his article at: http://www.elihubooks.com/greg-stafford/another.htm.
his rationale and logic are most interesting.

Of course the idea of fellowship with gentle people, old friends and possibly family is enticing. So is the routine of something you used to do. But will he:
1. "Actively preach with urgency" spending all his time door to door?
2. When faced with a tragedy, will he forego accepting whatever the current incarnation of forbidden blood products is?
3. If he became aware of a child molester still in a position to hurt children, will he keep silent so as not to "detract from Jehovah's organization"?
4. If placed in a teaching position, will he toe the line on 607 - while knowing the facts?
In the end - the organization still requires you to take it or leave it "as is". I wish everyone happiness and peace, but his nature and the organizations' seem mutually exclusive. -

It all one big sales meeting
by mjarka911 ini've been out for a few years, but my wife is still an active jw.
the other day i was using the fax and found some notes someone had sent her from their co's visit.
she said she didn't mind if i looked at them.

I've been out for a few years, but my wife is still an active JW. The other day I was using the fax and found some notes someone had sent her from their CO's visit. She said she didn't mind if I looked at them.
I was struck at how much the talks and service meeting notes were like sales seminar meetings. Reading it was like remembering a scene from Glengary Glen Ross. There was one section entitled:
26 Things you should be writing on your RV slip. It mentioned all the little things you should notice and write down so you can tailor your magazine placements to their interests. It had sample dialogue about not correcting someone about ideas inconsistent with JW beliefs because it would turn them off.
It all seemed so duplicitious. I remember a car commercial years ago where a man said:
"I don't want to be sold a car, it's too big a purchase. I want to buy a car because its the best thing for me!"
I think the same about all this sales training for religion. Would you buy a financial investment from someone who goes door to door? Why in the hell would you allow someone to sell you spirituality?
