Stopping the WT

taking a leaf out of the book from the road protest camps and other campaingning groups against this and that which i have been involved with, it occured to me the other day perhaps one of the most effective means of stopping the wt in it's tracks is to halt the litureture distribution system they employ, i.e.

in the uk setting up a protest camp right outside their bittacy hill complex, to actually stop the trucks from entering onto the roadway, if no one is up for that, how about tipping bagfuls of sugar in their lorry deisel tanks?

any other ideas?

i love my girlfriend with all my heart and soul, but her family is very patriotic.

i see it rubbing off on her, i see her friends rubbing off on her.

the problem is, growing up in a witness household, patriotism was downplayed.

I love my girlfriend with all my heart and soul, but her family is very patriotic. I see it rubbing off on her, I see her friends rubbing off on her. The problem is, growing up in a witness household, patriotism was downplayed. As a result, we run into differing opinions on thiongs. For instince, her friend Jill, just got married to Dustin, who is a medic in the army. They are around our age, and so my girlfriend obviously sees us in the future when she looks at them. Problem is, she wants me to join the military. She wants me to be a medic so I dont have to go into combat (dont ask me why she thought that!) Her big reason is that the benifits are really good. I just finished re enrolling in college to start in the winter.

Conversation from earlier:

Her: I was talking with jill earlier about how much children cost, just before you give birth. It'll end up being about $6000 dollars she said. And since the army covers health insurence...

Me: Honey, you know we've talked about this, and you know where i stand, I will not join the military in any way shape or form.

Her: Well then I guess we cant have kids unless we win the lottery or something.

Me: (silence)

Her: It would just be to expensive.

Me: *CLICK*

I couldnt believe what she was saying. So the rest of the people in the world that arent in the army just cant have children? I cant go back to school because I have to join the military? I have no more hopes or dreams? Because she wanted bleeping health insurence from the army?

*twitch*

How do I make her understand that the army is not the end all and be all of jobs and health insurence? We've had fights like this before, but never before has she said that about children. I wanted to go back to school to get my bachlor's in business and marketing. Right after I told her that I enrolled, she started this whole thing up.

I dont want to join the miltiary because I dont have a high level of patriotism, especially right now. The pointless war, the monkeys in office...I dont want to die to defend those POS...Is that so wrong?

At what point would the average witness start to question their beliefs?

would it be after this "system" continued on and on and on, knowing armageddon hasn't happened.

how about the issue of love, the fact that it isn't as great as they claim .

at what point would the masses start wondering ' hum, maybe nothing is coming after all'.

Well, what really did it for me, was the fact that they always said we are in the time of the end. They always used the excuse, "Dont you see how the times are getting worse and worse?"

Well DUH. Times were getting worse and worse in the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's ECT ECT

By any perspective, when looking at the bible, everything looks WORSE

ZThen it hit me...times just might "keep getting worse" Five bucks says that witnesses in the 70's used the excuse that times are getting worse!

Grrrr.

Impromptu Get Together in Portland OR Saturday June 12

i'll be visiting portland this weekend and have stirred up some interest in dinner/drinks on saturday night.

so far we have 8 people coming, 4 of them not on this list, but exjw's of the coolest variety and very fun!

so, in talking to odrade, we thought we would throw it out there that if anyone else is interested in joining us, we are prolly going to go to portland brewing around 6ish.. i do hope we can get up a party!

The Story So Far (catch up time)

Over controling parents and my reasoning didnt get along. I ran away for a short time (to my sisters, a total learning experience, which I thank her for, LOVE YA SIS!) After trying forever to get my freedom from religion, I finally got over the 'hating' the society thing, and just listened to books on tape on my mp3 player during meetings. Nothing really happened. I never got off reproof, and was never disfellowshiped.

After that, around December, I got a job. Working at subway changed my outlook on life. There was a difference between survivng and living. I left subway, and was out of work for about 2 months. During this time, I was doing alot of reading. May 1st, I came across a job that gave me a perfect mix of everything. It even came with a 2 bedroom apartment.

For the past month and a half, I have been living on my own. I havent been to meetings in well over 2 months, and I feel great. I have a wonderful girlfriend, who I plan to purpose to in July. (we've been dating for about 4 months now, but have known each other for well over 2 years.) I have a roomate moving in on the 13th of June. So half the rent is knocked out. Im going back to school in the fall for my Business and Marketing degree.

Sure, my witness friends dont talk to me...oh well...there bloody loss.
