poor thing, she's had alzheimer's for about 10 years and the last year she's been on hospice care because she's been so close to death.
the past few months she's been slowly filling up with water -- they gave her lasix (not sure of the spelling) to relieve the edema and it worked, sort of.
last weekend she actually looked a little better.

Please know so many care for you. My warmest of thoughts,( wish I could send lovely flowers too ,don't know how to!) There are so many lovely words, but try to just think of all the good things mum did and please believe our Creator does exist and does care.

what caused you to come and read the posts of so many of your former brothers and sisters who have either been disfellowshipped or have chosen to walk away from the society and the 'truth'?
Nic, hi there. Missed your original letter to 'lurkers' which I don't put myself into that category as I have occasionally offered a few words on the board, but your words seemed very reasonable to those who are unsteady and waving about not sure of anything much except a certain objection, even resistance, toward oversight by others as in a congregation. And of course many other issues, it would seem that whatever you wanted to be, there is a mater here on the board! How easy it is do 'do our own thing', especially to be able to hide behind anonymity and fire 'bullets' at how badly we were treated etc.
But I had to say you came over very nicely.

i apologise for upsetting most of you by logging onto this site.
i stumbled onto it by accident and stupidly never noticed that it said discussion forum, everyone welcome.
i just thought it was a site where witnesses discussed subjects, and did not expect such a negative response to my naivety.
Yvonne, you have shown great courage in your comments, as well as modesty. As a long-time Witness, please hang on in, there are things done wrongly by everybody, individually as well as a group, and I have found no body on this forum has bothered to challenge a couple of things said about the need for an organization to fulfil Isa.2, and dozens upon dozens of other Bible statements that show the need for a brotherhood 'not learning war' and a preaching brotherhood.
My advice? Study for the truth, be like the Bereans of olden times, fully grasp what Jehovah God is doing with humans, and do your best to live a dedicated Christian life. Please ask whoever you are studying with any questions put to you by anyone on this board, or pm myself if I may be able to help, I only know a little but know enough to understand the issues here on this board. The type of people here seem very nice overall and seem hurt by actions of other humans and sometimes Society policy has hurt them, which unlike the Scriptures themselves can be changed for better or worse sometimes. Some other ex-jw boards are disgusting,.

No apologies for the sarcasm though, just went - not long enough- to the wrong schools! But the 58 assembly helped, as well as visiting a beautiful brotherhood around the earth (incl. the US and UK and most other countries fairly often!

not a new light, just a positive light.. sometimes on here i worry that all jws are painted with a bad brush when i know that not to be the case.
today i was looking after a jw patient on the ward and she was the most wonderful old girl you could meet, she really made me smile, and she was bright as a button.
later her family came in, who i didn't recognise and they were just as pleasent.
Just had to make comment on this thread that it was great to see some decent remarks (to me anyway) about some of the most beautiful people in the world who are trying hard to be good as persons, walk in Christ's footsteps, be good in their relationship with Jehovah, apply the advice from the Scriptures and the Society, and I am so sorry that some of you have only ever had terrible things from the overseers or the brothers in general, or at least your words say that. I do not lie to you in saying that my 50 odd years of life as a witness has, in the overall, been one of great depth, beauty and encouragement.
The divide between those on this board and the brothers in the truth may well be fixed by more true love and understanding. Bigotry, anger and bitterness may be caused by other individuals, in our opinions, but if we can conquer bad with the good, and remember we have no right to retaliate with hatred to any others, surely our lives would be blessed.
I can only say this: If you do not believe in God as Creator, who is responsible for and who do you show thanks to for the good things? (ie babies, your life no matter how bad it is now, food, drink, flowers, etc etc)
And, if you hate the Society and its representatives, who or what is responsible for the 6.5m publishers trying hard to privately and publicly help others. in all nations, not learning war either personal or national, anymore?
(perhaps I should leave this board too, bit hard not to learn 'war' from it sometimes....)

Please to all who are still reading this thread, please be kinder and less abrasive to each other.
To all others, no matter what, the Christ said we should love not just our friends, but love our enemies. And that includes you, me, Jim, Ray etc, none of us bring the sun up. Nor do any of us know the total circumstances behind the sins committed against us. Jesus Christ was right, whether you read his words from the KJ, NWT, NE,AS etc etc.
Just my personal beliefs, I have had enough time and experience with those in responsible positions in the truth to know how much most, if not all, are really trying hard to do the right thing. You nor I are appointed as anyone else's Judge.

Gary, read that before, a bit like asking the Pharisees about Jesus...a winebibber, drunkard, with pro's, etc etc.....may I suggest you re-read that article thoroughly. Nothing said to lie. To not answer to avoid discriminating oneself or others is natural justice. To purposefully lie is of course very wrong for anyone.

Outlaw, truth does not require revealing information to those who would want to hurt your family, truth allows for refusal to answer (ie 'theocratic warfare). please don't suggest you have ever read anything like saying we should tell an untruth (lie), best to refuse to answer. Surely you understand that, and if you have evidence that the society has counselled to the congregations to 'lie' or tell an untruth, please tell me.
