Only if you accept a study w/ me - we will study "You Can Dance Forever to House Music" first, and then we'll see about the country music! :-)

Robyn,
CONGRATS! Way to go!!!
Seeing the movie "The Insider" with Russell Crowe was enough to ruin any thought about smoking for me. I'm glad I never took it up for I see how difficult it is to quit once you're hooked.
cheers,

Military Service Anyone?
by email inanyone here ever wanted or had the desire to serve in the military while you were a jw in good standing?
would you do it now if you were younger and within the ages that they require for new recruits?.
are you willing to give your life for your country and what you believe in?

Yeru,
I see your point, but I just don't understand how all of these things are due to the fact that the state is Democratic. If it were Republic would it be different? Could not a different Democratic govenor make the same changes?

I'm mostly into House music currently. Deep House, Tech House, Tribal House - Terry Francis, Terry Lee Brown Jr., Mark Farina, Mark Grant, etc etc....
But I also like Hip Hop & R&B and a little rap - artists such as Bilal, De'Angelo, Common, Dilated Peoples, Outkast etc....don't like the mainstream stuff that much.
Growing up I listened to a lot of classic rock and metal. Metallica, Rush, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix were and still are very high on the list of all time best rock bands.
I since I play piano and drums, jazz is a favorite as well. I'm basically into everything but country, although I like a few Garth Brooks songs. :-P

Yeru, understood, but you have people dying to get into other countries too, and people dying to get out of this one (not literally, to my knowledge, but..you know what i mean).
So I guess you're saying that since there are problems in the world that need addressing, you are in a position to assist by being in the military.
That's one way to look at it. I could never say that your efforts will not do the world some good, because more than likely they will. If this is your reason for joining the forces, I can't say anything negative about that.
Well, to each his own. I'm glad you are a critic as well though - don't ever loose that ability.
Good luck buddy.

D8TA,
Yeah, but tons of people are dying to get into this country too because of it's freedoms.
And who would you rather have as a Superpower, China?
Tons of people fought for the freedoms you enjoy, so back off, COMMIE!

Well, we'll just wait and see how Bush's tax plan does any better.
So if California was Republican, what would they do differently to solve the problem? Don't think you can blame everything solely on the fact that the state is Democratic.
The state deficit is more than likely the highest because it's the biggest state in the country. Makes sense to me.

Yerusaylim,
I think you do have blind patriotism. I think you are a very bright individual, don't get me wrong, but the fact that you choose to ignore all the bad things about this country and replace it with "our forefathers fought for our freedom, so should we" logic shows me that you've caught the patriotic bug. It's the same bug that people like JW's catch - it's the need to want to belong to something that represents good. Use the same reasoning you've used to understand the follies of the JW's to dig into the meat of what's really going on in the USA. There's just so much that doesn't add up.
Have you not ever wondered if the USA "sells" us ideas through the media to paint a picture of what's going on, blame things on other "evil" people, etc., just to win the favor of the people, when in all actuality, the real story is far from what's being told? Do you think this is utterly unheard of and impossible?
I just think it's a hard sales pitch to sell anyone on the need to believe in the system and join the Forces. What's your pitch?

Democrats have things figured out better than Republicans IMO.
And go to war for this country? Not a chance.
If anyone invaded the coast of california, I'd fight to stay alive and protect my neighborhood/city, but forget about joining the military. I realize it's necessary to have a military for protection, however if I were to join I would not be able to prevent them from using me as an instrument for doing their dirty work. And that's exactly what's happening to thousands of young people today, and my conscience could never support me being a part of it.
I'd have to believe in the system before I could agree to lay my life on the line for their interests. The US can't even obtain true justice within it's own country, so I don't know what makes people think they're doing so with the interests of other countries. Look how many people have been wrongly sentenced to death - it's ridiculous.
I can think of a ton of better things to do with my life. Never considered joining, never will.
