What grammatical errors bug you the most?

for me it's the use of : .

it's as a possessive - it's means "it is", so if you don't want to say "it is" don't use the apostrophe.

there are others that bug me but this one is the worst.

Why? Because if Jesus said "truly I say to you today" one has to wonder when speaking in the present tense how could Jesus say something to that guy on the execution thingy at ANY OTHER time than "today" when he was speaking to him at that very moment? Could one say, "truly I tell you yesterday," or say "truly I tell you tomorrow?" NO!

That could be interpreted either way if we depend on the wording only. Of course it is redundant to say "I say to you today" as opposed to "I say to you, today something will happen". But language is full of such redundancies.

For example, you could claim that Jesus' saying "I say to you" was redundant by itself. If you say something to somebody, you don't have to inform them that you are actually doing it. It's obvious, isn't it?

Anyway, whatever the ineterpetation, I fully agree with this assertion:

It's all about commas. NO! Let me restate it: It's all aboutbullshit! God should have done a better job protecting HIS book than he did. Loser God!

Don't forget that the inspired words of Jesus and Paul's mention of the flood prove this event in Bible history (after all, Jesus was watched the flood happen).

Lol. So we have the testimony of an eye-witness (Jesus). Furthermore, we know that Jesus is in charge of the true Christian congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, therefore we can trust all the explanations provided by the F&D Slave Class - Jehovah's sole channel of communication.

2 - nil up against austria in a world cup qualifier last night.

I think we'll have a better idea of how bad or good we are against Poland.

So what are your predictions? Despite defeting NI yesterday Poland's team is in a shambles (as usual). It has been totally unpredictable for the last 20 years though, so we (the Poles) may be lucky on Wednesday.

Realistically speaking, I'd say England 1:0 Poland.

Overpopulation in the "Paradise" Earth!

jw doctrine teaches that the 1,000 years of christ corresponds to "judgment day," and everyone who has not already been judged will be resurrected from the dead.

the exceptions would be those who died during the flood, the destruction of sodom and gomorrah, and a few odd individuals.

but that's only the people living today.

Astronomy was my hobby when I was a JW. So I liked to think that GOd didn't create all the galaxies and planetary systems with no purpose. Especially the ones we can't see without advanced technology.

Yes. my biggest dream was to be sent by an angel on an intergalactic mission, (preferrably with a few chicks on board) to ~~populate~~ explore a few new planets. That would have to be after the 1000 y reign though. The WTS leaders were not supposed to rule over planets other than Earth, were they? So I'd miss part of the global perfection program, which would be a pity, wouldn't it?

such sad and tragic events for young kids to be caught up in.. which parents dropping their kids off for school would imagine that they would never be seen alive again.

perhaps final proof that "a hard-line approach" does not work.

all it does is escalate the violence and inhumanity.

Hey. Let's drop it. How come you still don't get my point? If you read my posts carefully you'll know what I mean. I'm losing faith in the honesty of your intentions. It really wasn't my point to take a pot shot at you - I just don't blame religion for everything because it takes us nowhere.

Here is my point again and for the last time. Either you get it or forget it.

The creation of the state of Israel was a political decision. There might have been some Zionism to it, but the Palestinian resistance would have been the same if there had been no idealogy. The sending of settlers to the west bank of the Jordan is a political step as well. It is aggravateing the Israeli-Paletinian situation.

The religious mess is a spin-off. Religion was used as a catalyst. Palestinian suicide bombers are indoctrinated with it and so are fundamentalist Jewish settlers.

However there had been Jews and Arabs in the region before Israel was created as a state. THe situation was much more peaceful despite the religious differences.

What is the real reason for this mess? The religious differences or the creation of Israel? Of course as it is now whole generations have been brought up in religious hatred. But the original reasons were political ones. And the only possible solutions are ones which address the political dimension of the problem.

Don't you know any stable multi-religious societies? I think they are much more common than religious war sistuations. WHy? Because there are no political reasons to start war.

Saturday morning house to house not good enought anymore!

just came from the assembly.

they critisized us for going house to house implying that it was cheating the system and just a way to get fs hours with out talking to people.

now they want jws to do mostly bus and business witnesses in the afternoon during weekdays.

Because every thing the watchtower has taught in the last few years is being replaced by basicaly cookie cutter secular advice

True.Funny thing is though that they try to create an impression of being so original about giving aall this advice. I remeber from those theocratic school assignments, that one elder who was a pretty simple carpenter gave public advice to college graduates on how to read out passages from the Watchtower. He had a very serious face at those occasions.

It is like the churches have been around longer than the wts and already know this stuff, but the hyper active upstart the wtbs assumes it was all satans system holding back "the truth". Now after over 100 years of hard knocks they are realizing um... maybe round wheels do work best?

I wonder how much longer it's going to take before they go completely mainstream.

wel ya they would, otherwise where would they get thier weapons? I think of some of the ethnic conflicts in Africa where religion was less of an issue than what tribe you were in. I also see plain old mercenaries as an option, much like the son? of Margaret Thatcher was doing in Africa as well.

So isn't religion just part of the problem? A very nasty, aggravating factor, but not the original reason for all this mess.

Eh well, I don't know about destroying the muslim society, but I also see Russian interests in keeping groups like the Taliban from controlling Chechnya. Honestly Pole, I would have to think about your last question. How do you balance religious preference w/political freedom? I think that is one big problem to overcome.

The Taliban are another issue, but I see your point. I don't expect you to solve this problem. As it is, the situation is a real mess, indeed. The Israeli situation is a religious mess too, because of the wrong policies which have been used for some 50 years now. And didn't Afghanistan become a fundamentalist mess partly because nobody had given a damn about it in political terms for a long time before 9/11?

In my opinion it's impossible to obliterate religion from people's minds much as we would like it. It's much more practical to address the more tangible political issues. Create peace, justice and stability and relligous hatred will start disapearing. IMHO that is why Saudi Arabia not the most likely muslim country to declare a erligious war on Israel. It simply doesn't pay off.
