Right. They have Jehovah for their backer.
XP, good idea. A few apostates should donate 5 pounds each. Then they should write a letter to WTS admitting the fact and explaining that Jehovah will pour his anger on the organization if they don't return the money immediately. (Joshua 7:20-21) :)

"Greater Fulfilment"
by IT Support inthe society claim that many prophecies have a "greater fulfilment.
daniel 4 was not only fulfilled with king nebuchadnezzar, but has a "greater fulfilment" in telling when the gentile times will end.
has the society ever tried to justify this practise?

The greater fullfilment doctrine is a form of religious paranoia.
The paranoia disorder is characterised by (among other things) the tendency to interpret meaningless, irrelevant texts and situations as meaningful, carefully encoded, secret messages of utmost importance to the world. All such messages support a previously accepted agenda. All such messages can only be deciphered by the paranoid person.
That's precisely what the "greater fulfilment" doctrine is about, isn't it?
The WTS religion is a form of mass-paranoia.

Bad thoughts rushed into her mind almost audibly, all of them anti-kingdom.
I'd love to hear some of those almost audible 'anti-kingdumb' bad thoughts.
Any guesses what kind of thoughts they might have been? -

Potential Trouble for WTS
by metatron inrecently, the watchtower has been relying on the european commission on human rights to try to fend off legal.
attacks by governments over there.
however, a recent case in germany's high court could change this.

Abaddon,
I don't find a democratically appointed multinational organsiation that has aided Europe's stability and security for 55 years very scarey!
Agreed. Still, the CoE is also comprised of countries such as Russia (speaking of human rights...) and it doesn't even begin to compare with the EU in terms of the political integrity of its member states.
Most laws passed increase safety, equalise prices, support depressed industries and areas (although I despise inductrial and agricultural subsidies myself), and ensure the delivery of human rights. It does get silly, like with them wanting to call sauceges 'emulsified meat product tubes' (or whatever it was). And mistakes are made.
But the direction is a god one, I think.
If "emulsified meat product tubes" are the price to pay for the integration, I'm ready to pay it . Actually, the budget of the EU is only about 1.05 of the GDP of the member states.
I have been increasingly supportive of the EU integration recently. Let's face it. Either we Euros unite or we'll end up as a bunch of petty nationalistic little states in the next 50 years.

Abaddon,
The problem here is that we're not even talking about the EU. As far as I know the Commission in question was set up by the Council of Europe (not to be confused with the Council of the European Union or the European Council) which has nothing to do with the EU.
Still people on this thread have used terms such as "Eurocrats" or "artificial constructs of human delusion".
I don't quite understand what the Council of Europe has to do with Eurocracy. -

metatron,
Don't make it simple. Make it clear. Who exactly set up the "Comission on Human Rights" and why exactly do you call these people/institution/organisation Eurocrats? -

Yep. This email pretty much reflects how a certain subculture of young witnesses enjoy their time "in Jehovah's Service" in Central/Eastern and Northern Europe. (I don't have firsthand experience of Western Europe)
This is actually how I used to try to make my doubts disapear just before I decided to launch a delibarate fading campaign. Travelling around Europe, meeting brothers and sisters and having a good time. I actually tried to focus so much on forming new relationships only to relate stories like the one above that I managed to treat the WT doctrine as something totally unimportant.
The reason why I say it's only a subculture is because the number of this kind of cosmopolitan young witnesses is limited for financial reasons. They're either Bethelites, or missionaries, or half-missionaries or Watchtower construction workers. Most of them can't really support themselves (especially if they're living in a foreign countries like the ones mentioned in the email) so they have to depend on their parents or the Watchtower.
The picture is completely different among young witnesses who stay home and have to make a living and donate part of their money to the Watchtower, so that those elite few can enjoy themselves :)
