  hey folks,.

  an era in the ex-jw history is over.

  kent steinhaug's site http://watchtower.observer.org is being shut down.. it was the first of it's kind, and to this day probably still the largest anti wt site on the net.

  I have experience in Java-XML-MySQL processing, so I can write an app which will allow us to move the content of the site to MySQL. Then it can be exported in any text-based format (or to another RDB), depending on what you would want to use at the DB tier of the new site.

  Once the financial aspects are sorted out, I would take care of the initial data pre-processing. I hope if they are getting paid for the conversion, the XML they sell us will be reasonably consistent.

  I think nobody on this thread attributes any intentions to Harry other than his utter idiocy.
  
  He's not just an average kid. I'm sure as a royal he's had a very good education at least in the recent history. Certainly much better than the average neo-nazi bonehead. If anything can excuse him, then I'd say he has a problem with his royalty and all the high expectations that come with it. I mean it's hard to be a real prince in the 21st century. Let's hope he has learnt a lesson.

  let's face it. harry's an idiot. he may get away with it in a place like the UK, where the real svastika boys didn't walk the streets killing people often without a reason.

  this week in uk, there starts a new 6 week series to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the liberation of auschwitz.

  I refused a shepherding visit !

  I also refused a visit in a rather explicit way after a few months of not going to the meetings. The funny thing is that I got three calls from another elder, asking me about my service report (for 3 consequtive months). Each time I said I had nothing to report. Last month was the first time I didn't get called.
  
  
  I guess they are finally getting the message. I don't care at this stage anyway. My wife's out, my mother is half-out. They were the only reason I decided to pretend for a few months.
  
  
  My advice: if they come to your place, say you're just about to leave and that if you want to meet them, you'll give them a call. They need some time to understand you no longer recognize their "authority" as elders. It's really hard for them to grasp that a regular congregation member like you finally discovers these WT policemen have plastic guns.

  It can be exported as XML, but then someone will need to make an import to
  
  another system, which is also a lot of work.

  
  
  If anyone is willing to pay this $500 (or let's see how many folks are willing to chip in for it) for the transfer to XML, I can then convert it to SQL or plain HTML for free.
  
  I'd just need a week or two to work on it - most likely (I have other high priority jobs at the moment). Hosting it is another issue, but the site could be up again in a few weeks.
