I'm not sure what American colleges are like, but here in Poland no JW would dare make such a claim.

It'll be interesting to see what happens when they blow up the Eiffel Tower or The Lourve(sp).
I can hear the cries for help already! You (Europe) didn't think they'd leave you alone did you? And of course, the bad ol USA WILL HELP, because it's the right thing to do!
WHat a moronic comment. -

Even stranger than drunken Noah - why did angels want sex with women?
by eyeslice inthis is a sort of parallel thread to the drunken noah thread.
the genesis account of angels 'materialising' and having sex with women always worried me as a witness.
in all animals, man included, the sex drive is hormonal.

Is religion the real reason for many wars?
by Pole ina lot of posters on this board have expressed the opinion that religion is the reason for many wars.
some have even implied that if religion was "banned" the number of wars would be reduced.

Has religion been influenced by the wars and politics, to perhaps mold it into something that is far more judgemental than it might otherwise have been?
Interesting question.
Certainly. Some forms of religious extremism were cynically designed for military pruposes (see the Kamikaze pilots example I posted above). Most religious beligerence however evolved naturally due to the violent social and polititcal conditions. Same goes for nationalism.

The poster who you find the FUNNIEST here, and why?
by outbutnotdown inof course, different people enjoy different types of humour, so there will be a wide variety of responses, but if you could mention why you find that person funny, personally, it would be appreciated.. i would have to say that i have to pick two people.
i enjoy having humour displayed in a tasteful manner, but with wit.
a life-lesson taught with a laugh is about as good as it gets, imo, even if i am not capable of accomplishing that very well myself.

Thanks sajwee,
Most of the conflicts you've mentioned are primarily political. The original cause was always some political dispute over territorial issues. Then, one bastardized form of religion or another was used to sanctify these issues and to make people feel more confident about killing not only enemy soldiers but also civilians for otherwise poor reasons. Nationalism can be used in very much the same way, but it doesn't mean it's the major cause of the war.
As for the Twin Towers attack, you know that it wasn't an attack against the entire West and that the "religious" issues involved would have had no significance had it not been for some aspects of the US foreign policy in the Middle East. This is no justification of the attack but I simply don't buy the propaganda used by many war-mongering politicians who couch the war on terrorism in religious terms thus making it totally irrational where it's not always so. -

Maybe there were angels that found female chimps attractive too.
Now, I hope the WTS gets this new light too and they will have one of their artists paint some the offspring of those pervert angelos. They must have produced some gigantic scary freakin' chimpfilims. Imagine one of those ba***ards pushing his earthly half-brothers around and robbing them of bananas! No wonder Jehovar put an end to all flesh.

Is this the mother of all anti-jw discussion boards?
by truth_about_the_truth ini've seen a few other ones but this one seems to be the most active.
by far the most interesting and diverse.. there's another one out there on e-watchman but found that one to be quite cheezy.
everyone overuses emoticons for some reason over there.

No, it's just a "motherlike organization".

Special meeting March 7
by Samuel Thorsen inmy mother told me today that its going to be held a special meeting in all congregations worldwide at march 7.. .
some new information is going to be released, and its very very secret indeed.
we are not supposed to tell anyone what we heard at this meeting to the ones who have the meeting later the same week.

xjw_b12,
I just have to laugh that we apostates know more about what's going on at the KH and show more interest in new releases and special meetings than the RnF.
Exactly my thoughts. The average JW knows much less about the inner workings of the WTS than a JWD newbie . And all their emphasis on the secrecy.... Secrecy my ass. We're gonna know the details of the meeting on the very next day.

stillajwexelder,
Yes - no question in my mind that religion is a major cause but not the only one
Can you give me a few examples of modern (let's say 20th century) wars where religion was the major cause?
