it's time to quit for good.. i will be revisiting this thread before i go to bed tonight, and i will at that time be able to post that i made it through the day without a single puff of tobacco smoke.

Definitely quit smoking. I am so glad not to be a smoker when I look at some of my smoking friends.

Why do different Christian sects have set "beliefs", or interpretations?
by sonnyboy ini often wonder why so many religions choose to interpret the bible and set their interpretations in stone.
wouldn't it be better to simply support the members of the congregation and let them use their own discernment?
i remember the jws preaching against the formation of sects.

Yes, it always amazes me how some Christians say "we don't know, we don't know" when having to explain creation and other supernatural stories. And how they say "we do know for sure" when asked about how many loafes of bread Jesus used to feed the (how many) thousands of people.

I had a very personal relationship with Jehoovar! At some point I even thought he answered my sincere prayers and blessed my efforts.
Now I'm a bloody apostate and a non-believer.

Are JW's Self-righteous?
by Honesty ina good friend who is a police officer told me last night that he believes a lot of the jw's he has met through the years in his line of work are extremely self-righteous.
i didn't have much of a reply but it did get me thinking about what he said.
so, what do you guys think?

Leolaia,
::How could you not be self-righteous if you think everyone who isn't in your group is destined to become worm food any day now.....
Ah, you mean bird food?
Honesty,
As a Jehovah's Witness you are constantly taught that you are being served spiritual food from God's sole channel of communication with mankind. That's why JWs consider themselves the best blood treatment experts in the world even if they have no medical background, and the best child-abuse cases and mental problems experts even if they have no training in psychology.
I mean, at least until recently, elders believed two paragraphs of information published in their manuals and some WTs would allow them to deal with reported child abuse cases much better than if they contacted the authorities and called in "worldly" experts.
