Races - where do they come from?
by googlemagoogle inthis one goes out to all the evolution maniacs out there, king james bible bumpers are also welcome to present their view.
even when i still believed in the bible as god's word, i never understood how (at least) three races came from 2 persons.
i sometimes thought, maybe adam was black and eve white, but where does the mongol race come from then?

Presiding Overseer Says They Will Ask If You Still Want To Be A Jehovah's W
by minimus inthe local needs talk on thursday discussed a few different things, according to my mom.
but the one that stood out most was that he announced that based on the new book, the elders will be checking on those that have not been associating with the congregation for some time.
they will ask, "do you still want to be a jehovah's witness?

i don't know why you want to attend other churches, but do you really get df/da for attending a church? never heard of that... i attendet catholic churches for funerals and there never was a problem with it. who knows about it anyway. and if someone knows, who knows what you did there anyway...

Is it morally OK to try to free people from the WTS and how?
by DannyBloem ini have some serious questions here.
i am still a jw but fading away slowly.
still have some privileges etc, but that will not be too long i suppose.

those are some good questions. but the question is not if it's morally ok, but if it makes sense. because in the end you'd have to preach to every religious person that they are victims of a lie. and that just wouldn't work. the only difference is that most religions wouldn't shun you just because you don't buy their story.
just do what you feel you have to do. if you have some persons in there who are important to you, take your time and think over every step you take. -

that's right. but it not only depends on different countries but also on different congregations. beard is perfectly ok here. sisters may wear trousers in service. i know of congregations where sisters are "allowed" to pass the mikes (wow!) or lead the field service meeting. sunbathing topless wouldn't be a problem here either. at least in some congregations.
for what i know the us american witnesses are the most restrictive. but well.. not only the witnesses. -

why wouldn't it be morally ok?
i'll tell you what it is: dangerous in the sense of probably losing friends and family, desillusioning because your potential "convert" maybe simply doesn't accept logical facts and most of all - time consuming. and if an elder hears about it, that was it.
my advice: try to calm down, settle yourself, collect enough proof for the issues you are interested in. then just throw in some points of view in normal conversation, but never, never ever try to force a topic. -

Has the Watchtower set the date 2034?
by VM44 inthe year 2034 has been mentioned in some posts here as the new date the watchtower is suggesting for armaggedon.
has the watchtower officially stated this?
has it appeared in any articles?

well, maybe it even is a hint, but if it is, none of the active jws i know got it, only you bad apostates... seems like the r&f got immune to dates. either that or many of them can't calculate because they didn't go to school ;-)

2034? nope... not in the mags not in a talk. some of you "apostates" read too much between the lines. 2034 would be far too much time left anyway to keep the r&f busy.

i just started to think about one thing: how long does it take for a people to develop their own characteristics?
for example in case the first human beings had dark skin and hair, how long would it take until one of them gets light skin and blond hair? or even simpler... how long does it take for one african tribe to develop the characteristics of tall people while another tribe has small people.
i'm just guessing, but it must be an awful long time... can anyone provide some sources or links to that topic?
if the answer is somewhere around "thousands of years" it could perfectly be used to dismiss the creationist/jw ~6000 years (human) history.
