Can someone explain the generation change?
by feelinglost inafter being on here now for a little while, i decided to ask my mother this weekend about whether armageddon is still supposed to come before the generation of 1914 is gone.
so this leaves me a little confused- is this right, is this what they still teach?
or has something changed?

12 Therefore, in the final fulfillment of Jesus' prophecy today, "this generation" apparently refers to the peoples of earth who see the sign of Christ's presence but fail to mend their ways. (WT Nov 1st 1995)
that's such nonsense, isn't it? "this generation won't be gone until the end comes" or so it goes. and now they define "this generation" with "the generation that sees the end come". that ridicules the whole text.
everyone who can think a bit and reads the passage knows, jesus was talking about the people present. the generation he supposedly lived in. -

Schweinhund ain't that bad. in europe generally there are only few "unsayable" words. there's no bleeping in the tele for example.
"schweinehund" is more or less the equivalent to the mexican "cabron". it's not much of an insult, but depends very much on the situation. "schwein" alone - as in "pig" - would be considered one of the worst insults though, but also depending on the context. -

Jonah as Fiction
by Leolaia inthe book of jonah contains one of the most famous stories in the ot: the account of a cowardous prophet who was swallowed whole by a giant fish.
the only other mention of jonah in the ot however is absolutely silent about this remarkable story (2 kings 14:25), and there is much evidence that the book is a late tale written after the babylonian exile.
the book is unique among the twelve minor prophets for being mostly narrative and it has much in common with post-exilic haggada (such as the first-century lives of the prophets, which added considerably to the jonah legend), the "great city" of ninevah is little more than a distant, vague memory (as evidenced by such things as the anomalous title "king of ninevah" and the non-mention of the king's name in jonah 3:6), legendary touches like the giant fish and the magical growth of the castor-oil plant, and especially the late aramaisms rife in the book (such as spynch in 1:5, ht'st "to think" in 1:6, stq in 1:12, mnh in 2:1, and so forth).

It's a shame the New Testament reaches back and references the Old Testament so much. If it didn't, you could potentially maintain faith in it, while acknowledging that the OT is largely stories. Since it does, admitting that Noah's Flood never happened, for instance, means Jesus' whole authority is sent reeling, since he spoke of it as historical.
that's why i rejected christianity pretty much at the same time i couldn't accept the OT anymore, even though i would have liked to believe the jesus stuff. but it just won't work. -

Hm, I think you might confuse Russel with Rutherford here.
no no, i don't confuse them. the good thing about the 606+0 approach is, that you can show it from their own recent literature. if i take out my studies in the scriptures, i can surprise some by showing them the pyramid stuff, but others get suspicious. so it's easier to take the revelation-book approach. -

yo kenny, hmmm... i think you're fake. you'r jokes can't possibly be serious.
Do you want Him to send you a warning by means of the most severe thunderstorm you have ever experienced? Let me know. I can request it from Him and you will receive it.
no, i'd like to be thunderstruck. could you request that for me? could you please also tell me what time it'll happen?
btw: satan IS lord. you just don't know it. because you are on the wrong path. you'll die when satan kills your jesus and casts him into eternal fire.
