thanks for the replays guys! as far as the missing links b/w the first century christians and C.T. Russell my dad says the roman orthodox church became the slave and so on and son on through luther and the prodestants and so on until today. his belief is that even though the teachings were not accurate they were the best at that time and it set th foundation for C.T. to establish true christianity.

the point about god not having an organization before isreal is a good point...i never thought about that.

anybody have any other points about the book of revelation and when it's fullfilment is suposed to take place (i.e. is it our time period)?

ok so i've been talking to my dad lately about scriptual matters and there are a couple questions that i'm having a hard time answering.

i have made it clear to my dad that i do not believe that the WTS is god's organization on earth. my dad disaggress and backs it up by saying that god has always had an organization or his righteous people on earth. it used to be isreal but when jesus came he changed that and established a new convenant/congregation. he then goes on about matt. 24: 45-47 and the faithful slave and such. so then he says that if the WTS isn't the faithful slave then WHO is? he kept on asking me WHO, WHO....he just kept repeating that. my rebuttal was that i don't believe that the parable in matt 24 has a dual meaning one of which is for our time period. then he comes back by saying that the prophecy was first fulfilled before the fall of jerusalem in 70 A.D. and that it must have a second fulfillment since revelation was written in 95A.D after the fall of Jerusalem. i don't know how to refute that with out dismissing the bible all together.

so help me in understanding who else could be the faithful slave if there really is one and if there isn't how do i prove that there is no faithful slave? also how do i refute that revelation was writtien for our time period?

Stumbled Across the Forum

i stumbled across this forum today as i was looking for information online as it relates to johnny carson and the whole john denver thing that was spread around years ago.

it's no surprise that i cant find a single thing on it on the web as i always thought it was an urban legend.

just angers me that things like that spread around and so many people just accept it as truth because a brother or sister told it to them.

basically the WTS joined the UN as a NGO (non-governmental organization) back in the day and then it was exposed (in some new paper online). some bros and sis. found out about it and started inquiring. the WTS said that they "were" a member so that they couold use the UN library but have since revoked their association. but after doing some research you'll see that they didn't have to be an NGO to use the library so that claim was false. many epople view this as hypocritical since the bros and sisters in malawi were killed b/c the WTS would let them get a political party card which is not as bad as being a memebr of the UN. i hope that helps.

last evening, the family and i went for our traditional monday "i?m too tired to cook" meal at mickiedees.

our son can never stop talking about his order; hamburger happy meal with a boy toy, and make sure they don?t put pickles, mustard or onions on the burger.

we hear that all the way there on most occasions.. for some reason, maybe because i?ve been spending so much time here the past few days, hubby and i got onto the subject of biblical doctrine and religion, punctuated by at least 10 chorus of "mom?don?t forget.

I was Molested by my CO grandfather

i was molested by my grandfather from the age of 3 to 7. he was also molesting his daughter (my aunt) and maybe others.

it was covered over and my entire family was actually shunned when we went to the elders when i was 18. i did not tell anyone about it until then because my grandfather had me believing our relationship was special and it was our little secret.. when confronted, he of course denied it.

my mother even spoke up of a time when he had tried to molest her when she was 8 months pregnant with one of my brothers.

But I do have the satisfaction of seeing him lead a miserable life with his money-grubbing, ugly ass new wife, the loss of his business, and him losing his house. I'm evil, I know, but its about time he got his comeuppance for molesting me; and I should say that it's good enough for me.

i was recently disfellowshipped for being in a same sex relationship with a female.

i understand that it is against bible standards but i do not agree with disfellowshipping in that everyone including my family has nothing to do with me.

i am 18 years old.

welcome to the board!!! i too was DF'd and am shunned by my family for the relationship that i am in. both sides of my family are devoute JWs. i feel your pain. things will get better though so look to the future. i hope you trust and love your partner b/c you will have to lean on her for support during this tramatic time in your life. you will always miss your family but remember that they miss you too!! they are just doing what they think is right. in time though things may change. you can alwyas come here for support or if you'd like to talk in person sedn me a PM!

Do you still Patronize Women?

i was thinking today about how jehovah's witnesses are conditioned to view women.

i'm sure there have been many threads and discussions on this subject.

just curious how you view women now that you are no longer a jw?

but weirdly enough, i've been mentioned here before, when one of my posts at lj (about whether or not subjection to the organization is relative) caused a bit of a war among ljjws.

i found this forum googling my username, actually.

i was wondering if anyone here has any theories as to why it is that, the more meetings we skip, the less we want to go.
