Lol @get off my lawn guy. Lots of musicians get famous without flashing their kootch. There is more variety today than ever, a great time for music. You sound like the dubs carrying on about how awful life is today by focusing on something they don't like to support a narrow view.
_____________
I've given examples of what I consider awful and degenerate pop music. Could you give your examples--out of the current crop of Top-Selling (popular) artists, who best represents "Good" variety alternatives to the muck? Good lyrics? -

RAP SONG THREATENS RIOTS, TRUMP ASSASSINATION; MEDIA CELEBRATES
A new viral rap song that encourages the assassination of Donald Trump and calls for riots if he wins the presidency is being celebrated by the music media.
Entitled ‘F**k Donald Trump’, the track was performed live in front of 20,000 people at the Coachella music festival this past weekend by hip-hop artists YG and Nipsey Hussle.
The lyrics for the song openly invoke death threats against Trump and vow to stage violence if he takes the Oval Office.
Here are some choice excerpts;
All the niggas in the hood wanna fight you
Surprised El Chapo ain’t tried to snipe you
Surprised the Nation of Islam ain’t tried to find youHave a rally out in L.A., we gon f*ck it up
Home of the Rodney King riot, we don’t give a f*ckYou built walls? We gong prolly dig holes
And if your ass do win, you gong prolly get smoked
F**k nigga, f**k you! When me and Nip link, that’s Bloods and Crips
Where your L.A. rally? We gon crash your shit -

Popular Romantic songs of the 40's were innocent for the most part, celebrating love.
The early 50's post-war era was a naive, doo-wop, almost silly time of wishful thinking.
Folk Songs of the late 50's were stories ABOUT something or someone as an art of storytelling.Protest songs of the 60's were ABOUT something such as how bad war was and how important peace could be.
And the Lyrics? Who can make sense of it?
By the time the 70's came along, at the very least, there was a wide variety of subject matter as to what popular music was "about."
Today, the idea of being famous as a celebrity carries with it the necessity of flashing your kootch and exposing your nipples, and thrusting your ass, etc. There is a celebration of what used to be call decadent behavior.

First of all that sounds like a statement an old person would make - an old person from any previous generation throughout time about a younger generation.
Second I would argue that crappy songs and lyrics could be found in any genre of music throughout time as well.

The point we're narrowing toward is that very popular music has a degenerate tone of vapidity, salacious perfidy, and weird bullshit Illuminati nonsense as a definite trend.
The repetition of hooks and lyrics without any substance or message beyond sexuality and fringe behavior has become pervasively "dangerous" to society as a whole.
Compare the complaints about Elvis shaking his hips, complaints about the Beatles haircuts with what's happening in music today and you honestly have to admit something disgusting is controlling the Music Industry as a whole.
This has an influence on society. The Slut-ification of women should be of concern to parents, for instance.
The Pimp-ification of young black men can't be good, can it? -

LyricsNa na na, come on
Na na na, come on
Na na na, na na come on
Na na na, come on, come on
Come on, na na-na na come on
Na na na, come on
Na na na, na na, come on
Na na na, come on, come on
Come on, na na na naFeels so good being bad
There's no way I'm turning back
Now the pain is for pleasure
'Cause nothing can measureLove is great, love is fine
Out the box, out of line
The affliction of the feeling leaves me wanting more'Cause I may be bad but I'm perfectly good at it
Sex in the air, I don't care, I love the smell of it
Sticks and stones may break my bones,
But chains and whips excite me'Cause I may be bad but I'm perfectly good at it
Sex in the air, I don't care, I love the smell of it
Sticks and stones may break my bones,
But chains and whips excite meNa na na come on, come on, come on,

Lauren Hill had these interesting insights into the music industry recently."The singer, who faces jail time related to her outstanding debt, has until May 6th to address the balance. Lauryn Hill had this to say about the situation:
It has been reported that I signed a new record deal, and that I did this to pay taxes. Yes, I have recently entered into an agreement with Sony Worldwide Entertainment, to launch a new label, on which my new music will be released. And yes, I am working on new music.
I’ve remained silent, after an extensive healing process. This has been a 10+ year battle, for a long time played out behind closed doors, but now in front of the public eye. This is an old conflict between art and commerce… free minds, and minds that are perhaps overly tethered to structure. This is about inequity, and the resulting disenfranchisement caused by it. I’ve been fighting for existential and economic freedom, which means the freedom to create and live without someone threatening, controlling, and/or manipulating the art and the artist, by tying the purse strings.
It took years for me to get out of the ‘parasitic’ dynamic of my youth, and into a deal that better reflects my true contribution as an artist, and (purportedly) gives me the control necessary to create a paradigm suitable for my needs. I have been working towards this for a long time, not just because of my current legal situation, but because I am an artist, I love to create, and I need the proper platform to do so.
The nature of my new business venture, as well as the dollar amount reported, was inaccurate, only a portion of the overall deal. Keep in mind, my past recordings have sold over 50,000,000 units worldwide, earning the label a tremendous amount of money (a fraction of which actually came to me)."
http://www.okayplayer.com/news/lauryn-hill-writes-open-letter-sentencing-sony-deal.html
Only a completely complicated set of traps, manipulations, and inequitable business arrangements could put someone who has accomplished the things that I have, financially in need of anything. I am one artist who finds value in openly discussing the dynamics within this industry that force artists to compromise or distort themselves and what they do, rather than allowing them to make the music that people need. There are volumes that could (and will) be said.

______________
(Why I love) FLOWERS
Hummingbirds and honeybees will never wear out welcome,
nor August afternoons of summer rain.
A riot among Hollyhocks or wild Gardenia bedlam,
by contrast with a soccer match, is sane.
Flowers don't have legs, and cannot run about
Flowers simply never make a fist,
Flowers do not whisper and they seldom ever shout
Flowers will not put you on their list.
Dahlias don’t pay income tax or drive a Maserati.
Goldenrod won’t cruise along the highway.
Jonquils don’t solve Rubik’s cube or holiday in Maui.
Moon Orchids seldom sail the evening skyway.
Violets aren’t violent, though pine trees can be knotty
Kissing without Tulips is absurd,
In ancient Rome, the Four O’clock was oft confused with IV*
Bird of Paradise is not a bird!
Men aspire to greatness while flowers strive for color.
A Daffodil in sunshine boasts success.
Men will brag of power by the hour, but they're duller than a Peony
with a penchant to impress.
This is why I love flowers!
