The EVOLUTION thread!

i would like to start a boilerplate thread to discuss evolution.

there seems to be a great deal of interest in the subject.. so, i ask our members, what do you think about the veracity of the biological theory known as evolution?.

is it true?

I dont consider myself a Atheist, more of a agnostic. But I got hit with a troubling fact, that kind of shaked my thoughts about evolution, and the origins of our Universe. I was watching a great program on the Science Channel "Wonders of the Solar System": Episode: Empire of the Sun hosted by physicist Brian Cox. It was basically talking about our Sun in relation to every planet in our solar system. He mentioned that the Earth and its Moon are in perfect distance for the Sun to create a total Eclipse of the sun.

It got me questioning: Could it be meer chance that the sun, moon and earth are perfectly placed for this to happen?

Im not even taking in account the other facts that make the Earth unique (eg...Electro-magnetic field).

It boggoles my mind. Im not sure what to think now.

Anyone have a answers?

It sounds as though JW's are allowed to lie about almost anything, as long as it ties to the theocratic effort. I wonder if they handle their accounting books the same way?

Well, this is a very interesting topic, I never really thought about in depth. This makes me think, of the what the bible saids on Marriage. One man & one woman can marry...... at any onetime?, is it possibl? Its just a thought, nothing to back it up....just wondering the interpretation possiblities.

for those of you who signed up for the secret santa 2009 list here is where you give your secret santa an idea of things you might like.

it's hard enough to give gifts to people you know nevermind people you have never met.. so bearing in mind the $15 limit give us an idea what your favorite interests, colors are, or what things you might like.. in the past people have suggested something for their new christmas tree, a book, a cd of their favorite music, something from where their secret santa lives (something with the city's or country's name on it or an widely known item.. once people get their name they will be able to check back here to get an idea of what your interest is before they go shopping.. if you say "anything" or don't post then expect a surprise..
