  i want to let all of you know that we have decided not to contest the elders decision to publicly reprove us tonight.

  after a lot of thought, we feel in the long run that by letting this go ahead it will only make the elders and the organization look guilty, not us.. the elders have basically ordered us not to talk about what our "crime" is with anyone.

  so we have decided that we will tell others what our crime was not, i.e.

  We plan on sticking around at least for 1 meeting a week for now.
  We don't think an attempt to "expose" anything would be worth the risk.
  I have 6 close relatives still in the org, my wife has 3 close relatives still in. So to get DF'd is NOT an option. I think what people are forgetting sometimes is that we still love these people. That's why this is so frustrating. Of course I would love for everyone to know that we are right and that we aren't guilty of gross sin. But as you say, they wouldn't believe anything we say anyway.

  I appreciate those sentiments. Someone here posted that I have 7 years in which I could pursue legal action. One thing to note here:
  The elders took action not for us merely LOOKING at the information. But for us SHARING it with others, and also trying to interpret what it all meant. Don't forget, my sharing the UN thing with my friend spawned a 2 hour conversation where we covered everything from Beth-Sarim to Ray Franz and beyond. This was a 2 way discussion however. The elders are aware of EVERYTHING that was discussed. When they interviewed my friend about it, he did make it clear to them that it was not my intention to try to persuade or convert him to my way of thinking in any way.

  The elders have basically ordered us not to talk about what our "crime" is with anyone. So we have decided that we will tell others what our crime was NOT, i.e. "we were not reprooved for fornication, not for drunkeness, not for gambling, not for smoking, etc". This, coupled with the fact that a least a few do know what it is for, may hopefully help to open the eyes of even one or two people. If not, then it may plant a seed that will linger in their minds.
  I thank all of you for overwhelming support, advice, and encouragement. My wife (Mrs BadWillie) was truly blown away by the response our story generated yesterday. Thanks again!

  i showed a friend the un website where the wts was listed as an ngo which then led to a 2 hour discussion of various doubts that we both have had.

  my wife also showed a friend the un thing but also discussed with her a first hand account of a pedophile cover-up that we knew about in our former congregation.

  I am in 2 minds over this. First of all I do sort of want to get on with my life now that I have come to terms with all that has happened.
  I was indoctrinated starting at the age of 10, baptized at 17 (1984), and I am now 34 years old. I have a lot of living to do now that I am free. I also have a beautiful 1 year old boy now too.
  But also, the "BadWillie" side of me really does want to SCREAM OUT my side of the story for the whole world to hear. In the last month, since I started discovering the real "truth" about the WTS, I have had to internalize so much anger. I have driven home from work many nights shouting curse words at the GB! But, I still am not sure how many people at the even the top level are acting in a devious manner. In fact, Ray Franz even says this in both his books. So, aren't most of the members of the WTS victims themselves? How bad is the corruption at the top? As I said, I really would like to expose this if I thought I could do it without bringing too much harn to my family.

  i for one am throughly fed up and royally pissed off with the crap from this organization.. if badwillie will set up a paypal account i will send money to it.

  any other takers?.

  badwillie - if you agree to this, and there is sufficient support, then get yourself a high powered attorney and sue their asses off.. also: if you do agree, how about we let the guardian know what we are doing.. t.
