have any of you found that it's more difficult to have normal relationships after you've left?
i seem to know a lot of ex-jw's (myself included) who tend to fall into these co-dependent relationships.
it's almost like we're trying to replace the control and turmoil of the wt w/ a bad relationship....lol.
YES I'D SAY IT IS DIFFICULT TO TRY AND FIND SOMEONE WHO THINKS AS U DO AFTER U LEAVE THE TRUTH... I STILL HAVE THE SAME BELIEFS AND I DON'T CARE MUCH FOR HOLIDAYS. .BUT THEY DO. AND THAT CAUSES PROBLEMS IN RELATIONSHIPS..
I HAVE TRIED TO FIND SOMEONE SIMILAR LIKE ME THAT HAS THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH BUT YET NOT ACTIVE.. AND GO FROM THERE.. BUT I CAN'T SEEM TO GET THERE.
how many of you gave up a college scholarship to appear "spiritual"?
jt's thread about "homegrown lawyers" and the wtbs willingly sending certain ones to college started me thinking about that question.
i know i for one, relinquished that scholarship to show how "spiritual" i was at 18. .
I THINK IT IS UR OWN DECISION.. THEY SAY U SHOULD BE SPIRITUAL BUT THEY DO EMPHAZIE THAT LIKE THE BIBLE SAYS " A MAN NEEDS TO PROVIDE FOR HIS FAMILY" SO IF U NEED A CAREER U SHOULD GO GET IT. JUST KEEP IN MIND THAT U NEED TO LEARN HOW TO BALANCE URSELF NOW AND NOT LET UR WORLD REVOLVE AROUND UR CAREER ALONE!!

ITS SAD THAT U LIMITED UR SELF TO NOT DO OR GO MANY PLACES.. BUT MAYBE U WERE JUST WAY TO INTO IT. AND DIDN'T REALLY APPRECIATE WHY THE RULES OR GUIDELINES WERE THERE... NOW UR PROBABLY JUST REGRETING STUFF U COULD OF DONE LIKE CLUBING(WHICH UR JUST GONNA MEET PEOPLE OF OPPOSITE SEX TO INDUCE U), SEX (WHICH IF U DON'T BE REALLY CAREFULLL U CAN CATCH SOMETHING) .. THINK ABOUT IT.. ALL U CAN DO NOW IF U DON'T DO IT W/ CAUTION U WILL END UP REGRETING IT EITHER WAY. SO GUIDELINES ARE GOOD SOMETIMES.
i've lived here for about 1 1/2 years and haven't seen a single jw.
i read all the posts where there have been run-ins, people called on, elders talked to, etc.
and couldn't hardly wait for my turn.
MAYBE THIS IS JUST A SIGN THAT U MIGHT NEED TO SIT DOWN AND TALK TO THEM.
U MIGHT GET SOME QUESTIONS ANSWERED AND U MIGHT SEE THAT NOT ALL OF THEM ARE THE SAME.
AS THEY SAY "THERE WILL BE SOME COVERED W/ LAMB FROSTING" BUT YET THEY ARENT.
