I'm working on a track - should have it to you tonight. My voice is alto, though, so an off-key soprano is definately needed!
And I think From House to House has great potential...

i was talking the other day with a fellow board member about medical emergencies occuring at meetings and how we both agreed that we ( while jw's ) had never seen a meeting stop or be cancelled due to medical emergencies experienced by a fellow jw.
the wt society trains jw' s to lose their authentic human feelings or any empathy towards others physical or emotional sufferings many times.
so many times at meetings , in spite of someone suffering a serious medical emergency it was " the show must go on " type of attitude displayed by congregation elders.. my first experience at seeing a medical emergency at the kingdom hall was an older sister who had an epileptic attack.
At my graduation all us graduands were sitting in the front rows when the grandmother of one of them keeled over in the stands. There was a big commotion, and the paramedics arrived shortly to take her out on a stretcher. The girl sat in the row behind me, tears streaming down her face, not sure what she should do. Finally the attendant came and escorted the girl out. The speeches and the ceremony continued without a break. Near the end, though, they did make an announcement about the lady to tell us she was okay.
I don't think it's necessarily appropriate to stop an event like this and have everyone watch the medical emergency, particularly when it is being dealt with by professionals.
Just a comment on epilepsy seizures. The vast majority of people with epilepsy cope with their seizures without needing an ambulance. As long as they haven't fallen and sustained an injury, all that's required is to monitor the seizure and reassure them once it's over. No ambulance or 911 is necessary. Also, where I live, if you call an ambulance you incur a cost of almost $300 for that individual.
i mentioned recently about the 2012 jw survey, and how we are falling behind with the number of votes in comparison with last year.. you may remember that, in response to this situation, i uploaded the following video to youtube in an attempt to garner more votes.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wpcgclxqda.
you'll be pleased to know that, in the four days following the launch of this video, the survey received 76 new votes - boosting the total number from 936 to 1,012.. it's great to see that the video has had such a good response.
at the current rate (19 votes per day) we would surpass 2,700 votes by the end of the year - not a mind-blowing number but a great sample nonetheless.. after chatting with juan viejo2, we both decided it would be good to post an article on the website letting people know the results of the survey so far.. here is the link.... http://jwsurvey.org/cedars-blog/the-time-left-is-reduced-your-2012-survey-needs-you-2.
a comment on shunning coming in below higher education. I think practicing JWs can agree with the practice when it does not affect them. Personally I had no idea how deadly and how horrible the effects were until it happened to me. Before that I agreed with it, buying into the "you agreed to abide by the rules of the club when you joined" theory.
no call to invite me to a committee meeting...no notification of deciding i should be df'd....no telling my jw wife of the announcement...not a chance to appeal what i did not even know what was going on...my mini-serve son is devasted....he even researched it....told me to go to page 153-154 of the od book...never heard of it but it is a green hardback given to all who are to be baptized.
wow...the elders broke every rule in this book as to my case.... i have no respect for these men that can take away your jw family without even telling you they are going to.
my jw son has now begged me to meet with my committee...even though there is prob zero chance they can reverse the decision...that chance is from when they let you know...and you have to appeal by letter within 7 days (i cant make this stuff up!!
He loved his wife so much. I hope she did'n't play a major role in this.
our friend, oompa, has passed away.
just recieved the news a couple of hours ago, and have almost no details.
it happened today or yesterday, he took his own life.
This just has to stop
Amen

I've been crying. And I only knew him here on this forum.
No one could doubt that his death lies at the feet of the JW religion if they had read any of Eric's posts or interacted with him. That hateful cult killed him, just as surely as if they took a gun and did it.
Yet none of us should feel any guilt - we all tried to support him and help him. He had a world of support and so many people that cared. He just could not fight back from what they did to him. And knowing how they DF'd (DA'd?) him when he was down...how low can you go?
have any of you ever been or known of a jw that either:.

[endif]had a disfellowshipped teacher in school, or.
I haven't known any in school. I was a music teacher when I was DFd and lost all my JW students, but I was giving lessons from my home studio, so I suppose that was their excuse. I was also playing in a band with my brother and sister at the time. We had a contract, so they decided to honour the contract until it ran out in a few months. It was extremely difficult to work under the circumstances, however, since they would only communicate with me when we were on stage performing.
So I think much depends on interpretation of what constitutes "association". Some people have a harder time with that than others. However, a teacher/student relationship could also be seen as a power/control matter. Some parents might take the viewpoint that as a teacher you have an inappropriate amount of influence, which would place their child in danger of being corrupted by someone who is "mentally diseased"
In any case, I see it as their problem, not yours. You are providing a service, just like every other teacher in the school. Your personal belief system should have nothing to do with it, as Blondie has pointed out.
.. and all revelations stuff... it reminde me of the society ... when travis said to dr. gellar.." look at all the people they're all dead!
yikrs to familliar... so it did make me look to one of the only wts books around here..it's a red one... any way look up two witness in it .. cuz these two serial killers think they are... two paragraphs i new it was bs!!!.
back to dexter.. any way would love too talk, no one i know has showtime... face book page has two many people, although i did make a friend in aus, downunder..during season 2.. and i had some killer comments that got masive likes .. on requested takes... murder scenes from revelations.. where the killers were going to bring about the end .. by sacrifices.. murders.... so any one love a serial killer named dexter like me... i liken myself to him, it was how he has a dark passenger.... will talk any season, if you're behind on dvd.. the gal from aus, was behind tooo... l8r t8r.
I had watched the show before I read my first Dexter book. I have to say, the books are quite wonderful. They are very different from the show, but absolutely worthwhile. I think you get more insight into Dexter's psyche from the books.

You are so right, Flipper. I had been away from the forum last year and didn't realize they had done this to Oompa. I can't even think of a word bad enough to call them. The elders were figuratively sitting in their car watching him and just waiting for an excuse to get him. How evil. Murderers.
When Jaimie died, some had suggested some type of memorial page. We know all these stories, but up until now there has been no real concerted effort (or way?) to reveal the truth about what they do to people.
and i am finding the adjustment to the real world far more difficult than i ever imagined...i f...it has been about five years since i totally woke up to the fraudulant nwt and then all my other doubts i had carried for years were proved true as well.
but almost all of my few friends are exjw or slack jw's and i feel so isolated...my sons friends are mostly exjw too but not their gf's and they have way more normal friends .
how have you done at replacing lifelong friends and family?
Oompa - you truly were "lower than low." I hope you've found rest from the unrelenting pain.
JW shunning = murder
