  Shunning - what do they think they are accomplishing?

  a jw cousin of mine called my jw wife today and asked if i saw my new nephew from my jw sister.

  my wife said "no, his family would never allow him to see the baby!

  " (i'm da'd).

  Hi thanks orangefatcat--- I used to feel sorry for myself because the witnesses made me FEEL just as unworthy as they say I am. Then I thought about it all for a long, long time and I realized that I am THEIR loss- and I wouldn't even want to spend forever with people who won't associate with me now. :)))) Sugarbritches

  The witnesses here all shun- ignore- etc... me they say I am bad association because I am not a witness. I'm glad I am no longer studying with them. Why would I want to spend forever with people who don;t want to spend now with me?-Sugarbritches

  HI guys- thanks for all your posts to my question. I too think that brainwashing thing is crap-- although i confess it is hard for me to understand why anyone would WILLFULLY want to belong to such a loveless group of people. We do have free will- and we should be ALLOWED to use it.Thats sort of what we are all doing here- right? When I was doing my study- I wasn't ALLOWED to be here with worldly people.:))))) So free will is good. :))))))))

  Hi- thanks guys for all your posts. I can relate to so much of your fears and feelings. I wasn't a baptised witness but I was a Bible Student 3 times-:)))-- so I remember feeling afraid that the witnesses would come to my house and see the Christmas decorations that my family had put up --- afraid that someone I had known forever and who disliked the JW's intensely would drive past the Kingdom Hall and see my car there.So many fears- I'm so glad I got out in time.   HI life- thanks for your post and for the advice. I would love to go to a movie or something with my friend- but he hasn't made contact with me since last May. He is afraid to talk to me or associate with me because the elders disfellowshipped him because of his association with me - a non- witness. They warned him a couple of times- he didn't think it was right- so he ignored their warning about associating with me and they disfellowshipped him-- so he is ignoring me like the plague. He used to tell me I was his best friend--- what a fool I am. I believed him.Maybe one day he will wake up- but I'm not going to hold my breath.Again thanks for you post and for your understanding.-- Sugarbritches

  Hi 144001,-- You are so right- he's not my friend at all. I don't understand how he can act like i don't exist when we have known each other for so many years. The elders tell him to jump and he says where. I should be really angry at him- but mostly all i feel is hurt. That may change one day. Maybe one day he will see the light- but i doubt that that will happen. He is totally controlled by the elders and the society. Thanks for your post-
