Haven't been on here in a long time, actually, I'm sitting down for the first time in years!
What's new? Did Armageddon come? Any old posters, that I still remember?

yes, it's been awhile, as you can see, i've been a little busy....lol.
anyway, i named him cash (i love his name), he will be 3 weeks old tomorrow.
i forgot how much work it is to take care of a newborn, but it's all worth it.

I hope the picture works.
yes, it is i - whyamihere aka brookie with a side of nookie.. it's been awhile and i thought to stop in and say "hi!".
been busy with remodling and *cross your fingers* selling my house!
also, pondering the idea of building my own house - going solar, geothermal heating and cooling and maybe throwing the idea of living off the grid, so to speak.
Emma - Good to hear from you, hope all is well. Yes, living off the grid would be awesome. It will take awhile to plan and build and I'm trying not to get tempted on just buying now with the rates being so low.
ex-nj-jw - Don't tell me about the teenage years to come....lol. Jack already eats 2 or 3 sandwiches for lunch and then asks when dinner is ready an hour after he ate. People would think he would be over weight - must go right through him.
rebel8 - Well, I hope that it works for you, most people don't do my method, but it worked for me.(not for everyone) My brothers and I always save our money - habbit really. However, its harder as a parent to save, damn kids cost money.

The idea of giving energy, rather than take - seems to be a responsilbe way of life for me.
The kids are doing great. Lily is 7 and in first grade and at the top of her class. Lily's teacher had told me her writing ability is exceptional. Lily has said she wants to be a author. Writes books for me all the time. Jack is 5, he is all boy - need I say more. Jack's hobbies are sports, eating endlessly and is fascinated with the idea of never wearing pants. Yeah, big difference between the both of them....lol.
So, what's everyone up to these days?
our is just eating seafood by candlelight.
i really love xmas eve.
{can't say xmas day is something i look forward to at all.
This will be my first Christmas eve in my home and I am hoping to make it a tradition. We'll be having dinner, that I am making with my in-laws. That's about it. Simple really. Next day, off to my Dads for gift opening. Last year, my two brothers and I got together after going to the Chicago Bear game and decorated a tree with Chicago bear and cubs decorations and to top it off we made a string of beer cans. We were all so proud it was out first tree and it was beautiful. We still laugh - it was the best damn tree ever. Brooke
That's why I am glad to have many alcoholics in my family, we never run out. Wow, after I said that, it sounded bad. Oh well, cheers to you and me and my bottle of wine. Brookie
have posted this on the other thread but just making this one as well:
i need to let you know that dad passed away this morning at 8am.
he fought so hard but in the end they could not get his blood pressure to rise and he died of heart failure.
I didn't know him personally, but from our brief encounters, he was a lovely man with a great heart. My sympathy to you and your family, my heart goes out to you all. Love Brooke
took my children to the park last night, as my daughter requested.
we walked to the park, overcome with this feeling of something bad was going to happen, but shrugged it off and proceeded to the destination.
we were there for only 20 minutes, as i was helping my 4 year old son, my daughter fell off the bars.

We were there for only 20 minutes, as I was helping my 4 year old son, my daughter fell off the bars. Hearing her cry didn't alarm me, since I have been accustomed to her wailing over spilt milk, but I knew she was hurt non the less. Telling her to calm down and we'll go home and ice her injury. After 20 minutes of icing her arm, I had this funny feeling and took her in to the Hospital. Sitting there and thinking that she probably sprained it. It got bad to worse. Not only she broke her arm(near elbow), but now she will most likely need to have a surgical procedure - breaking the growth plate. Right now, I am at a loss of words and I just can't believe this is happening. Just feel horrible for her and I should have been more motherly, instead of clam and collected.
i'll still be here, living on the side of a bluff by the mighty mississip'.
i'll still be grilling steaks and drinking beer in the warm sun.
i'll be driving my apostatruck, toting my shooting iron, spooking the herd, warming the globe.
my birthday was never the subject of a post
Happy Birthday!!!! Well 9 months and 6 days ago!
I'll be driving my apostatruck, toting my shooting iron, spooking the herd, warming the globe. I'll still be unapologetically christian, conservative, straight, and quite barking mad. I'll still be conviced that America is a great country and that as bad as McCain is, I'll hold my nose and vote 'for him' to keep Obama out.
Did I hear McCain? You know what they say, McCain is Bush's 3rd term. Also, this statement reminded me of when I was in my driveway during the winter and the snow was over 4 feet high, then pondering the phrase "Global Warming?" - jokingly saying to myself "That Al Gore is full of Sh*T MAN!"
Anyway, good to see you! Cheers!
Brooke
