might be why they are asking for $8 now to cover the $450.

WTS Running Out of Money? Letter to all congregations...

) regarding donations.
se said it was long and boaring, but in the end there where a few points she remembered.

Steve you hit the nail on the head
There's nothing wrong in asking the flock for money. But I can't excape the impression that, because of their criticism of Christendom's more direct ways of getting money (e.g., tithing and passing the plate), the Watchtower has limited the means by which it can apply pressure to fleece the flock.
Isn't funny that a religion supposedly "directed/guided" whatever by Jehovah and the "only right one" in the world has so much of the same thing going on within their religion as they put down in others...The molestations for one and now they want to outright ask for tithing but like Steve said they can't because they've put all other religions down so much for the same exact thing.
Its really just sickening..I want to ask someone still in about the letter being read soooo bad but all my local ones are at the damn assembly...didn't they just have one last month?? I think they trying to get money that way too..im sure this assembly is gonna be in a deficit too...

I came home to find my wife crying over THAT article.
by jambon1 ini came home today to find my wife crying whilst reading the 'when a loved one leaves jehovah' article.
its been a good few months now and i can appreciate how she feels.
but it just irritates me how my disagreeing with this religion has such a catastrophic effect on our everyday lives.

In my case its a little different. My dad shunned me for the longest while he was in..now he's df'd and seeing for himself all the pain he inflicted on me..yes I'm a daddy's girl...but i don't rub it in his face..
my mom on the other hand (they're divorced) she never really shunned me..the only time she would not talk to me would be for a couple of days of so when one of my uncle's(elders) or aunt's would ask her about her communicating with me too much..and so she'd stop calling for about a week...this never bothered me because she'd always end up calling me about some "business matter" to see how i was even tho it was never really a business matter..so im just waiting to see what she'll do this time in reaction to this article...

What book or movie most resembles the WTS in your opinion? Why?
by whyizit ini've seen where some former jws compare the wts to certain movies or books (such as the village and 1984).
i just wondered what movies or books reminded you of the wts and why?
did you draw this conclusion before or after you left the organization?

All the movies mentioned so far are great examples, especially The Village...I must rent it again and let my dad see it...he was recently df'd
Also never thought of Equilibrium and The Island in that way but yeah they fit too...
Gonna go way off field with my own that hadn't been mentioned yet...X-men 2...but only the parts with the evil Dr. putting that poison stuff on their necks to make them do what he wanted..just like dubs...constantly putting out their little poison (mags, bible, etc.) to make people do what they want...but good thing is..in the end evil dr. got a megadose of reality...

Wouldn't this be a good time for each of us to contact the police their individually and tell them that there are thousands of instances of child abuse on record in Bethel? Also these cases were in many states so wouldn't the FBI be interested?
I'm sure they've either hidden or shredded these files by now...but it would be very very nice if the FBI or someone could get their hands on these files...The X-Dub Files....

I worked for my step-mom years ago...It was hell..first off I didn't like cleaning all those filthy ass houses (she owned a house cleaning service) while the dirty-uppers just sat around watching us clean...But it was 4 of us most times (her, another sister, my step-sister and me)...everyone else got paid the big money while I got a lil change because I was still in school and didn't have expenses yet....WTF!?! So I was doing as much work as them but getting paid less cuz of that..But once I graduated, I moved out cuz if I would have stayed there, it was understood that housecleaning with her was the only job I could have so that I could reg. pioneer.... never encouraged me to go to college...ok I'm getting angry now..and thats a whole nother thread...
Only good thing about it was I got to hear all the juicy gossip that her and the other sister would discuss...

ElderBarry....
Made me think of something that happened to me once tho...I may have eaten a roach or some weird bug before....Never actually saw it, but boy did I taste whatever it was...I was about 11/12 and sneaking a chocolate chip cookie cuz I was being made to diet...So I grabbed the cookie and stuffed the whole thing in my mouth....That was the nastiest cookie I ever had in my life...I spit it out...Saw nothing weird but of course I had chewed a couple of times...
So I just chalked it up to a lesson learned from trying to sneak and break my diet....I still to this day think a bug was on the bottom of that cookie...

PO said automation and declining contributions reason for Bethel layoffs
by truthseeker inlast week at the meeting, the po, who has very close connections to bethel, said that he never thought he would see the day that bethelites were being sent home.
he said that the biggest two reasons he thought bethel were cutting back, was automation and a massive decline in contributions.
looks like you're right metatron about the contribution aspect being their achilles heel.

This is from that same article.
Awake! 1975 September 8 pp.24-26 Economic Woes Strike the Churches:
Well, consider: Back in 1879 in the second issue of The Watchtower (then called Zion's Watch Tower), it was noted:
"'Zion's Watch Tower' has, we believe, JEHOVAH for its backer, and while this is the case it will never beg nor petition men for support. When He who says: 'All the gold and silver of the mountains are mine,' fails to provide necessary funds, we will understand it to be time to suspend the publication."
I guess they got that prediction right...(highlighted area).... Already got rid of one of the bi-monthly Awake's..wouldn't be surprised to see no Awakes pretty soon...
