Remember the two elderly sisters?

about a month ago i posted what had happened to two elderly sisters who were reprimanded by a couple of elders for crying because the jw broadcasting was going to be stopped at the kingdom hall and it was up to each publisher to learn how to use the internet.

if you recall the sisters got together with my mom and talked about it and it resulted in all of them declining to make meals for the pioneers.

ToesUp I've seen firsthand how they truly enjoy gossiping about those that have left or df'd. And for some strange reason the elders' wives seem to always know what goes on in the JC meetings. I used to hate that. And its like when they see you're still doing good they can't seem to figure out why.

ex. I busted my butt working and recently purchased a new home....my jw aunt told me I need to hurry and come back to Jehovah before I lose it...Whhhaaaaa???!!!???

while my dad was still in he told me they had labeled me an apostate because i had wrote a letter inquiring about a scripture.. cant lie my feelings were hurt when i heard that but now im like yeah so what?

Another one decides to leave

well in a month where i had a friend of 20 years tell me "we can't kick it no mo" because i no longer go to meetings, i had an even older friend who is coming to visit me, call me and tell me hes out.. currently a high profile ms who gives talks out all over the place, the elders said they are recommending him for appt to the body in sep when the co is coming through.

but nope......hes about to step down all together.. what did it?

because i am not disfellowshipped, and soft peddle my issues with the org, i was able to speak to him about things like blood, and a couple other things.

I wish i could share that story with my mom but he quoted something that she tells me all the time "where else is there to go?" I damn near shed a tear reading that article.

a close relative of mine was recently told by her elders to stop taking "gifts/help" from worldly organizations and that they would start helping her with any needs because it looked bad for her to be taking gifts from them. I will ask her if they have indeed stepped up and started helping. Which I already know this was just a tactic to keep people from saying so and so is a JW and takes help from us but those JW's never donate or help others. And I'm pretty positive she doesn't ask them for that help because she doesn't want to feel needy or talked about in the cong.

since coming out of the witnesses, i have gone through a transformation in thought and in mind.

i started with the usual: i thought that jesus was god.

then i investigated more about the bible and thought that the bible was not true, given the many contradictions, failed prophecies, etc.. then i investigated evolution and read lots and now i accept evolution and natural selection as things that are true.. now, i need to make my dad rethink everything.

i always sit in the same spot, just outside starbucks in a vestibule area with a table in the air-conditioned space.

i say "always," but not today.. somebody with two laptops and a table filled with business ledgers was in "my" favorite spot!.

so, i took a tiny wooden table inside the coffee shop on a long padded bench next to 3 other identical tables.. as the clickbait banner ads like to say: "and what happened next was simply unbelievable!".

Movies/Books for Cult Survivors

for me, there have always been special movies or scenes in movies that trigger my old jw experience (fiddler on the roof and little mermaid touched me deeply when i watched them as a young jw).

later as a survivor, it was more donnie darko, thx 1138 themes that struck me in particular.. anyway, looking for suggestions on great movies, books (art of any kind, really) that especially speak to or move you as a jw survivor?

there are reasons beyond purely entertainment that i ask..

Village Idiot I saw Worlds Apart, it was pretty good and I've never been able to find it again.

The movie The Village by M. Night Shala-something was sooo eerily similar to me.
