  Do Animals Have Feelings?

  Oh yes! Love, loyalty, admiration, frustration, dignity, depression, sadness, happiness, playfulness. Some even have a sense of humour!

  I have experienced every one of these from my cats, present and past, and from dogs and birds I've had.

  When taking in a new cat, there is always the fear of a new household, but there is a sense of depression/mourning/loss from their old life and home. I experience this when I lost the brother of my first two cats. Freida mourned for almost 3 months! Taking in Tippet, a mutt, she mourned the loss of her previous family and it's - her - children, for about the same amount of time.

  Max gets really pissed when we leave for even a short over-nighter. He'll start sulking as soon as the suitcases come out. Then when we come home, he stays attached to me for DAYS. He's getting elderly and needy in his old age.

  Anyone ever go on one of those bus trips to bethel?

  back in the late eighties while still in high school instead of doing something fun for spring break i got an all expense paid trip to bethel.

  on a bus no less with about 75 other jws headed to the promised land.

  somewhere i still have a photo album filled with snapshots of the printing presses and all of the "cadets" happily churning out literature -- and of course all of the female cadets happily scrubbing toilets and doing laundry.

  November 1974 - one of the earliest trips. Stayed downtown above Grand Central Station at the Commodore hotel. Walked my feet off, and ended up walking Bethel in my fuzzy blue mule slippers! It gave a few people a good (badly needed) laugh that day. We went up to Walkill too. I was 17 and had a great time. Wasn't the least bit interested in becoming a bethelite.

  How do you give a cat a pill?

  my cat is a little sick (all sorts of nasty things coming out the business end .

  i was also given some pills that need to be administered once a day... but she will pitch an absolute fit when i try to stick it down her mouth.

  she always manages to bring it back up and slobber it onto the floor.

  Wrap the cat in a towel (she will likely hate it) talking sweet to her on how much you need to do this for her benefit. Meow meow meow.

  With her tucked sort of under your left arm, pill ready in your right hand finger and thumb, Reace over her head and grab her around the muzzle and force open her mouth and pop the pill in quickly to the back of the throat. THeN hold her mouth closed until she swallows.

  With her tucked under your arm she'll want to wiggle backwards to slip out.

  The slobber reaction is normal when they get a taste of the pill - I bet it's clavamox. It's bitter.. If you can get it far enough back in the mouth/throat, it's more likely to be swallowed than slobbered out.

  did you forfeit a college education, a great paying job which would've kept you from the meetings, a career, a trade, your loved ones, a vacation, etc.

  so that you could be a good little witness?

  WHAT I LOST

  A highschool education: I was pulled out in 1973 after my sophomore year to go into the ministry because it was imperative that I pioneer and get the word out about 1975.

  College education? You gotta be kidding.

  Sense of self: Got married in 1975 at 18 yo into what turned out to be a "spiritually weak" family and I was shunned by my new congregation by former friends I had grown up with.

  That "good JW man" I married developed alcoholism and followed in his late father's footsteps and became violent and abusive. I attempted suicide because divorce and homocide were not acceptable answers.

  What I lost after leaving the bOrg and my lovely husband: My parents because I no longer intended on going back. I'd already lost my childhood friends with the congregation split.

  WHAT I GAINED:

  Education: A good education from STPU (Seat of The Pants University) along with a few college classes.

  A career in computers.

  Recovery from my own alcoholism.

  Some (almost) life-long friendships with worldly people.

  Found my birth family. (birth mom was killed in a car accident before I could know her as an adult)

  Spirituality. Sense of self. Great love.

  what would u ask????

  if you were to come face to face with god tomorrow, what would you ask him/her/it????.

  i know its probably been done before, but ive really been thinking about this lately.... i would ask him why he allows so many bad things to happen???

  why are there kids starving to death in africa, whilest i can eat and eat and eat till im sick???

  Crumpet, that's part of the things I'd discuss with Herself. But my complaint about being a woman is periods, PMS, etc. Why does it have to take almost 2 out of 4 weeks? Menopause should just happen w/out Pari-menopausal crap. I have a few other complaints and suggestions, too. No penis envy. Except for going pee in the woods.

  By GB standards, yes, he is an apostate simply because of association and his own questioning of elders judgement and behaviour. By dictionary standards, no.

  Interestingly, it seems the men that relate best to DefD. I ditto Mouthy's opinion due to experience. In my opinion he has little respect for older women, and he was downright rude and abusive to Mouthy on more than one occasion.

  Huge shock!

  i just got a major shock.

  i can't believe the new levels of cruelty possible within families who are jws.. a friend on this board who i've known since i was a baby practically has managed to get me a picture of my little sister who i haven't seen for 8 years - the one who i've mentioned my dad said was working on the bethel quick build team.

  the one who i've described my fears that she and my younger sister are staying single until armageddon.

  YOU are normal.... as normal as possible after being raised JW. It's you're family thats NOT normal. And their behaviour is not abnormal for a devout JW family. My parents did the same: I was raised with my older neices and nephews and do you think I was ever invited let alone told when any of them got married? Even my neice who married worldly? Nope. My parents gave my piano away to one of their grandchildren. Other things of mine stored at their home were given away! Afterall, I'm "dead", right?

  Ugh. This crap makes me sick. Interestingly, this comes after we watched the segment of Band of Brothers last night that showed the 101st finding the camp in the woods.
