Our neighborhood has been mostly left alone for almost a decade. We've seen more Baptists than jws or Mormons. About a year ago, one lone jws bro talked to me behind a door and I just said I was not interested. Just flashed his Watchtower. Yesterday a couple knocked on our door and my hubby answered. He did not recognize them as being from our local KH ( but it has been 12 yrs since anyone has even seen one of us, and prior to that it had been about 5 yrs. ) So he did not know them and he just said he was NOT INTERESTED. The lady ask why and getting a little irritated he said " I 'M JUST NOT " . They left. Maybe that was the test call from the local KH to see if we were apostates. Never know. -

I don't care if she was a socialist.-- she did not run for president. The idea behind socialism sounds really good, it just never works, or has not yet. Anyway, I would not hate someone b/c of that. I also don't' care if she was involved with the occult. Spiritualism is not a crime and was very high fashion around the turn of last century. Many wealthy people became involved with it.

Wiki does an excellent summary of this type of religion . I myself have used tarot cards for years and I guess that is the occult. I do not have horns growing out of my head. I admit my fascination with tarot and all things occult is basically nil now, but I was very into it at one time.
You sound like some crazy jws .

JW Threatened me with Violence Today :)
by cofty ini popped into the supermarket for a few things after work today and found myself walking up an aisle alongside a couple who used to be in my tuesday group.
i see them reasonably often and always say hello much to their obvious annoyance.
i noticed that ian was sporting a shaggy beard.

I agree with Steve2. It could be interpreted as taunting the jw couple. If he then hits cofty, well, it could be said he asked for it. Of course we'd love to make their lives as miserable as a lot of them have ours, but jws would be quick to go after known apostates. -

Local Congregation Takes Away My Dad's Phone Hook-Up (HE'S 85 YRS. OLD)
by NoMoreHustle inthis happened about 6 months ago, didn't really have an opportunity to post about it (been busy), but they still haven't given back his password for the phone hook-up.
they say that this is direction from the "branch office".
i think it's complete bs, the real reason why they are doing this is to punish me & my family because i am basically a ghost when it comes to meetings & any type of activity.

They probably won't give him a password b/c of you-- known apostate. I had very similar problems with my aged mom. They talked smack about me , b/c mom told me so. It upset her a lot, I was her only support. When she was in nursing home some pioneers used to come to visit her. SOME of encouraging things they would do were: telling mom she was sinning-- In fact they said she had already sinned. ( not b/c of me, related to some activity at nursing home) She got very depressed and I noticed it but she would not tell me what was wrong. Finally the staff told me and they said that if those persons from her church came in here again they were going to ask them to leave. I had to have a screaming conversation with an elder to get this STOPPED. Who in their RIGHT MIND goes and tells an old demented person they are sinning? They really should screen the publishers before they let them visit the old, sick, depressed or demented. Most people would have better sense but not these pioneers, dumb and dumber. -

she says she was raped while she slept. You can substitute molested but it is still sexual assault. -

Buddhism Anyone?
by LaurenM inso, i have recently been delving in buddhism and i must say it all makes sense!
like, the philosophies and ideas are what i've always believed but could never put a name to.
for example, they don't believe in god, they teach acceptance of all faiths, that peace can be achieved - not by changing other people - but by changing yourself, that everyone has goodness in themselves, that happiness can be gained internally (not externally as a gift from god), and that life is temporary so we should enjoy it!

Just about everyday someone on my Facebook posts something about Jesus. Press Like and comment Amen if Jesus is your Savior I don't want to discourage anyone from believing- it was my life for so long. But I refuse to even "like" the Jesus posts. I just can't. What it really does is make me remember a time when I was blissfully ignorant and happy in my belief that G'd would just fix everything , like magic. ( listen to Sarah Silverman , Jesus is magic) This includes other religions too, including Buddhism. I just can't get that blissful peaceful stupid feeling, the one that says - just believe and G'd will fix it all.
Maybe this is why G'd told Adam and Eve to not eat from the tree. Knowledge is a powerful thing and it seems there is no way back to blissful peace.

Jw kids setting off fire alarms in hotels
by purrpurr ina friend of mine is staying at a hotel next to one of the big convention sites this weekend.
yesterday she tells me one of the hotels had to be evacuated and the fire brigade called when the fire alarm went off.. it turned out to be a bunch of jw kids having a prank.
she had been speaking to the hotel manager who told her that this happens every year and only when the jw's come to stay!.

I recall in the mid to late 90's I was at the big convention in Ft. Worth. I heard from one of the attendants that a bomb had been called in but,,,, not to tell anyone. I later confirmed it when I spoke to the keynote speaker.-- he and his body guards said to not say anything and how did I know anyway?? Jws can't keep secrets. I always think back to that and wonder who makes these decisions for so many people. -

I was so embarrassed for JWN when I saw the title of this thread. Can't you peddle this nonsense someplace else?
