you cannot be partaking of the table of jehovah and the table of demons.1 corinthians 10:21.. these inspired words of the apostle paul show that two figurative tables are set before mankind.

each table is identified by the kind of symbolic food placed upon it, and all of us are eating at one or the other.

Im an Adventist and some of the spiritual food youre talkin about was takin from the Adventist tradition. Traditional Adventism and the witnesses both take the historist approach to the interpretation of bible prophecy they are the only only ones in christendom to do this and the Adventists were the first. the trouble is scholars within adventism are rejecting these positions. These are scholars who love the scriptures they arent liberals. The most recent one being Kai J Arasola the current president of east Finlands SDA Canference. The title of Arasolas thesis is '' The End of Historicism''. This is not apostate literature as the WT copied these positions themselves from Adventism. They allways had clothes on in the WTs but no clothes for Adam and Eve, sad isint it.

a question that has haunted all of jws is that; if the society is not the fds, then who is?

this is not only a question, but it is also an answer, an answer that most all jws would respond when someone points to them some of the society's problematic teachings or behaviour.. this topic has been dealt with on a number of occasions on this board and on others with very sound arguments that refuted the society's interpretation and application of jesus' parable.. while i was doing few chores at home this afternoon, i wondered on a couple of thoughts on this subject:.

a faithful and discreet slave will feed the sheep only what christ had been feeding them himself.

I feel this has been answered by the protestant reformation ''the priesthood of all beleivers'' and the concept the the bible and the bible only should be used and it is suficently clear on the gospel.
Also the reformers beleived all other doctrines could only be interpreted by the relevance of the gospel to it

Whence Baptism?

have any of you researchedthe origins of the practice of baptism?

as far as i can determine, there's no mention of it, much less as a requirement, in the torah or any of the old testament.. unless i'm missing something, it appears suddenly with john the baptist (oh, excuse me, wt lurkers, john the baptiser).. so then, if all of this is as it appears, then it's fair to conclude that the practice is of extra-biblical (as in ``pagan'' or ``heathen'') origins.

if true, then we have a fascinating example of how john, then jesus, appropriated a pagan custom because of its suitability as a symbol; in this case, of dying to a former life course and awakening to another.

Amazing your idears seem normal and fair to me. When I was invited to go to the memorial I asked my pastor to come along and he did. Ive written about it here. I wonder how many jws that may want to visit another church would be escorted by there elder, as you always put it so well, Amazing

To: Rev B / Trinity vs Salvation

hi rev b: you stated on my other thread that belief in the trinity is necessary for salvation in christendom.

not so.. i can go into almost any church and say that i am christian, believe in jesus christ as my personal savior, and will be accepted as such, without any comment or need to discuss the trinity.

i can even say that i don't accept the trinity, or literal hellfire, etc., and will still be accepted.. where the difference is, if i try to join that specific church as an official member with voting rights on church business, or hold an office of deacon, elder, or pastor, then a christian church will often require acceptance of the trinity for membership ... but not for salvation.

Being an Adventist I would like to comment. Adventists are for the most part Trinitarian but a group within the church are Arian [the same beleif as the witnesses only Jehovah is truely God] In order to join the church one would have to agree to the trinity but then if that person changed there mind they wouldnt be disfellowshipped I know of elders and many members who have this Arian beleif. Of course the hell beleif doesnt exist in the church the beleif is the same as the witnesses on that. I would personly like to see a more inclusive type of doctrinal statement with a simple acceptance of Jesus and the gospel as the only requirement for church membership.

I think I can safely say no one in Australia we dont know much about thanksgiving here is it something about the Pilgrins and the Indians gettin some tucker together after one year in the colonies
