  am i the only one, wondering why is that when a brave soul stands up for the rights of those being abused and injustice they have so much violent opposition?

  for example both martin luther king and ghandi stood up for people rights and look at their tragic ending.

  no adventist will ever be disfellowshiped again.. voted to change the term "disfellowshiped" to 'remeoved from membership".

  Dear Amazing,
  The meeting in Toronto Canada was the general conference of SDAs and is reconized by SDAs worldwide its a hirearcical system like the JWs. Shunning in the SDAs is news to me also in the churches Ive been a member there have allways been different groups Traditionals, Evangelicals, Brinsmeads [a group who follow Robert D Brinsmead an Australian} even groups that are Arian[beleive that Jesus was a created being the same as the witnesses} while most SDAs beleive in the trinity. So my question is who would be Apostate?

  Blondie I have a URL for you its quite a big page and its 3/4 down the page. http://www.tagnet.org/adventist.fm/news1.htm All this stoning, I preferr a small bag of gravel myself makes the stoning last longer. Adventists dont practice shunning of removed members they are treated with respect the whole point of the resolution at the General conference was to remove all negative implications. In fact Ive only seen someone disfellowshiped once for fornication and the person asked for their membership to be dropped but many members felt she should not be disfellowshiped and wanted to refuse her request. After all arent we all sinners every day and didnt Jesus forgive the woman who commited adultry. Adventists have dissidents as big as Ray Franz who cant be disfellowshiped because the local church they belong to wont disfellowship them and they are seen as true christians even though they dont follow the company line. I actually respect people like that more because they take a stand .

  Voted to change the term "Disfellowshiped" to 'Remeoved from membership". The church manual committeeintended to make the term "less loaded with negative implications," Said Lowell Cooper, General Conference Vice President. The subheading was changed from " Queries concerning receiving and dropping members" to Queries concerning receiving and removeing members."
  Members are received by majority vote of church members and are likewise dropped by majority vote. So if I want to get out dissagreeing with doctrine is not good enough Ill have to do sumthin really bad now.

  Will I Die?

  my doctor recently told me that my blood pressure is normal, but at the higher end of normal.

  i should lower my cholesterol level via diet and exercise.

  fine.. recently i applied for a job that allows me to further my education during the week but will still provide for my family.

  I allways had high blood pressure when i went to the doctor about the 140/80 level and then i decided to have it taken away from the doctor and the average went down to 110/75 its called white collar blood pressure or sumthin because the doctors frighten most people Barry

  Is apostate an appropriate term for us?

  how do you feel?do you like to be called apostate ?.

  apostate just means: someone who renounces a former belief or principle.. to people who have never been witnesses it may not symbolise much.but to witnesses the word means a lot.in many of their minds it is synonymous with evil and perverted.. since it jw's who will likely call us apostate not others the term almost always has a bad or negative useage.. but it does identify us as people who have completely rejected the religion.. so is it good for us to use it or not?

  I think apostate is used to liberaly in the witnesses because many people are still christians even though they leave the WT. Growing up in the Adventist church people who went against the company line were usually referred to by the leader of there particular group eg Brinsmeads were followers of Robert D Brinsmead, Fordits are followers of Dr Desmond Ford a theologian that was defrocked for his views.
