  News - Neanderthal DNA 99.5% Like Ours

  just recently, some scientists managed to sequence neanderthal dna.

  while this discovery is not totally explored at this point, the following data are quite solid.. using different techniques, two teams of scientists separately sequenced large chunks of dna extracted from the femur of a 38,000-year-old neanderthal specimen found in a cave [image] 26 years ago in croatia.

  one team sequenced more than one million base pairs and the other 65,000 pairs of the genome.. .

  I saw a documentary about how the neanderthals may have died out. According to one theory tha Neanderthals were more muscular had shorter legs and had no waistline. they lived in forest areas. They hunted with heavy spears and crept up on the animal being hunted. The spear was not thrown but thrust into the animal at close quarters.

  The forests were decreasing during an ice age and open plains were increasing.

  The theory is that modern humans started to inhabit the open plain areas because they were more athletic and were using a light spear which was thrown. Usually an animal runs quite a distance especially when a lighter spear hits its intended targetso even after the hit modern humans may have to run quite a distance to take down there quarry. The Neanderthal was just not athletic enough for this new type of hunting.

  Did they interbreed? No! They kept their penis in their genis

  Gday Moshe, We can have high powered rifles here but the requirements are restrictive.

  First you have to do a safety test and you have to have a secure rifle safe bolted to the wall.

  It is then required to apply to join a club or you can get written permission from a land owner. Most land owners are only too happy to rid their propertys of wild pigs, roos, rabbits and deer. Common calibers are 308 winchester, 270, 223 ,22long rifle .

  The government is opening up a lot of crown land to control much of the imported vermon and its not very hard to get a licence to shoot in those areas.

  The regulations are just a pain in the butt

  Their are plenty of target rangers here .

  four in 10 americans, slightly fewer today than in years past, believe god created humans in their present form about 10,000 years ago.

  thirty-eight percent believe god guided a process by which humans developed over millions of years from less advanced life forms, while 16%, up slightly from years past, believe humans developed over millions of years, without god's involvement.. a small minority of americans hold the "secular evolution" view that humans evolved with no influence from god -- but the number has risen from 9% in 1982 to 16% today.

  The YEC [young earth creationists ] are a dying breed they don't usually promote the idear of a 6000 year history of the earth. They promote the creation story all the same and when I was an SDA they used to visit and take the main weekly sermon and they also visited lother churches too.

  The problem with the SDAs is they promote creation and teach evolution in their Universitys so there is quite a bit of distrust between the church and its institutions.

  for some people.

  i think of the old man who has no family and lives in a nursing home, and the only time he gets out is when he's picked up for the meetings.

  he lives solely for that.. or people who love routine and busy-ness, people who need to be led.. george orwell wrote that the party is best able to impose its worldview on those least likely to understand what it is that's being asked of them: orthodoxy is unconsciousness.. i believe a lot of jws swallow the party line and it passes through them unharmed, like a seed pooped out by a bird.

  Watchtower encourages children to shun DF parents.

  hey guys just wondering if anyone can recall a recent watchtower ( maybe a year ago ) that had an article aimed at minor children on dealing with a disfellowshipped parent.

  ive had a dive thru jw.org but coudnt find it before i wanted to vomit.

  can anyone help recall what issue it was.

  In summary it appears the WT society wants absolute loyalty above family and friends outside the religion. anyone taking the societys approach should be looked on with complete suspicion. There should be no conflict but the WT enforces conflict between people. Who could trust a JW under this type of teaching.?

  Its actually the exact opposite of what people of other churches think and do.

  jw facts not all the SDA members are against them many support them I have found out the lesbian couple in the video are office bearers in the church now but are unsure of a new minister appointed to their church. The SDAs are pluralistic in their beliefs my grandmother was a very devout SDA but wouldn't go to church in the last 20 years of her life because of the liberal members v the conservative members v the progressive members. Thats why our family is now Anglican

  Many in the church do think for themselves look at sgamovie.com see the sda members that gave their approval of the movie and the movie was shown in some sda churches.

  Many sda go to a church school and then go onto an sda university and are not exposed to the wider community. Unlike the witnesses they do promote education.

  I don't have the same connection with many of my former sda friends I used to have non sda friends visit their churches when I was a kid so I don't have that same connection. Also I can't stand Ellen White

  Gday wilfried , I looked if that movie is in another lingo but to no avail.

  The guy who first talks on both videos had been in therapy for 5 years trying to change to being straight but he fell in love with a man anyway.

  Its not easy being gay and religious and I believe they need our support. The suicide rate for gay religious people is 8 times the general population

  new zealand has its problems like any other country, but it also has a nice level of tolerance.

  it did once incur the anger of uncle sam for refusing to let nuclear powered warships usse nz harbours, but i think uncle sam managed to cope with that.. perhaps nothing else demonstrates the tolerance of the country as the big margin (in the house vote) by which gay marriage became law.. hope these can be seen in other countries:.

  i think i found a church

  i really enjoyed church today, i have been visting serevel in the last few weeks, all the ones i have been to have been okay, but no more, but today i felt comfortable with everything i seen.

  it seemed very doctrinally sound, christ centered and the big bonus i did not hear a word about money!

  they did not pass a plate(i dont know if they do but today there was none).

  My family and I attend an Evangelical Anglican church and I can thoroughly recommend this type of church. The bible is read at church both the old and new testament . The Apostles creed is recited , Anglicans stand to sing, sit for instruction and kneel to pray. The local Anglican church is conservative so no female priests and no homosexual lifestyle but there are female priests in canberra Barry
