What the WT took from me.. is it gone 4ever?
by LyinEyes ini was raised jw, so i have nothing to go back to as far as belief.
the wt has been exposed to me as nothing but a bunch of lies, coverups, failed predictions, interpreting the bible to fit their teachings etc.
now i stand here,,,,,,,,,,,, with no belief system at all.

Lyin eyes,
I understand where you are coming from.
Some nights when I crawl into bed and especially when I have had a great day or something good happens, I tend to want to speak out and have some sort of conversation with my creator. I just want to say thanks for life and all it brings...........But I have to stop, as I have no idea who is there listening to me........i don't know even if I am being listened to!
When I was in the org, I was constantly crying out for help, assistance, needing to know how to cope with stuff. Help in maintaining the "new personality" bearing fruitage of the spirit, knowing how to forgive or overlook, or just being able to live life doing what was required.
It was all so hard and unnecessary.
And now I have a void. I don't know how to fill it. Oh yes it's great to let go of all that garbage and rules and regulations written and unwritten rules, dress codes, and the security and sense of belonging that came with all that..........But................... and it's a BIG...............BUT.............What the hell am I going to fill that space with?
I am just trying to deal with one day as it comes and try to fill it with a little bit of what I want to do in it. And in some respects, to a degree, I still feel accountable to God or whatever, but the confusion is set in as to whether that accountability is a throw over from my previous life or just a natural desire to learn more about our existance here on earth.
Ah well, life's not boring is it?

About 5 years ago, there was a 30ish year old mother of a couple of children in my circuit that claimed thay she was annointed.
I never met her, at least she would have been at the assemblies that I attended but not being in my cong I don't know much about her.
I get the feeling that she may have been discredited somewhat. Certainly, the person that "brought me in" (as it were), when making mention of this lady, whilst maintaining loyalty to the organisation by being non-judgmental and trying to convey the impression that jehovah will sort it out in his due time, wore a kind of nofuckinchance expression on her face!

Elders Children
by ballistic inlet me know if this was just a local / uk thing.. the elder's children in our area weren't the youngest to get baptised.
there were, in fact, many baptisms much younger than what you would expect, however, there was talk amoung elder's children of "making sure you are ready" and "making sure you are old enough".
now these i call children are 18, 19 even 21. there were ordinary children being baptised at 13, 14 and ocasionally 10.. did these elders and their children know something we didn't.

Ballistic,
I would say, that what you say happened in your congregation, was just like the one I left.
Children of elders were certainly among the last/oldest to get baptised. Infact many have still not taken the plunge as far as I am aware.

Tell about the good JWs
by Skeptic inmost of the jws i met were sincere people.
not perfect, i have my horror stories too, but most were decent people.
i am not discounting the horrible things i hear on this forum.

In my whole experience with jws, I don't really have any outstanding examples of generosity or kindness.
In my greatest hour of need I was met with disinterest and a general "turning of a blind eye".
My main offer of assistance was offered by a one-time good friend who happened to be a lesbian.
I have nothing to contribute to any discussion about so called "good jws"
In my own experience, they are purely selfish bastards who are too dogmatic and narrow-minded to take into account ANYTHINGthat deviates from the hum-drum and so-called "normality" of a jdub existance.
Sorry Skeptic, I suppose that was not what you wanted to hear!
