appointed ms @ 21 - in a large inner city congregation that needed brothers. by 23 i was accounts servant, public talks, had my own book study group, and was doing shepherding calls. yah, i was fully equipped to support people with major depression and family issues (well i suppose i could draw on my secret relationship with my boyfriend and recent recovery from alcohol abuse)

Lawyers at Bethel
by nbernat ini heard that bethel pays for brothers' undergrad and law school expenses if they serve as lawyers, is that true?
also, just to see the hypocrisy, would they accept someone who went to harvard law even if they weren't a regular pioneer?

I see from the Brady story (Canada) that Glen How - the other (or perhaps retired) WTBTS of Canada lawyer was awarded the Order of Canada. How odd that someone separate from this wordly system of things and neutral in politics would accept an award from the government for service to the nation.
And yet celebrating my birthday is too self-indulgent?

My favourite section is on whether or not to accept "Christmas Bonuses". After saying that you can't go to your non-believing spouse's family Christmas dinner for fear that you may stumble someone or be seen as celebrating a pagan holiday....
But cash? In the name of Christmas Bonus? Whoah there - that's entirely AOK. Just because your boss gives you money as a Christmas bonus, your accepting it doesn't mean you're celebrating Xmas.
I expected to read...and if you forward it to the WTBS we'll credit you 1000 hours of field service in the next calendar year. Cheers!
