there were lots of books that weren't included in the canon. the ones that were included in the bible we have now whether catholic or not are there to help us...the Holy Spirit can and does use the bible to teach the whole counsel of God...though you have adamently disagreed

His words in john 5:39-40 do still apply to the jewish people...it's a good thing to know where to find references in the OT to show them that their Messiah has come just as it is written in their books...john 2:22, romans 1:17, romans 10:17, acts 28:22-27

I don't need to see "it" in writing anymore if that's what your getting at...acts 4:4, 1 corinthians 3:5-6, 2 thess. 1:10...I read the bible because I want to and appreciate the word of God...and it is a source of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him...its contents are a spiritual blessing that was meant to be shared...there is a lot more in the bible that can be appreciated besides reading about Jesus of course...

if you feel that the Holy Spirit would not teach from the bible then why do you enter in there?...you've said it is because "others" need to see it in writing to believe, like thomas...didn't Jesus say to thomas touch...and see if it isn't Me, Myself?...which is quite what reading the entire bible is, touching something older than our own thoughts and seeing...and believeing. (no need to mention that the demons believe too, you must feel blessed that such a scripture is there for you to bandy about...whenever you feel like it)

when you quote john 5:39-40 and any other scripture to support your view it is akin to plundering (when you have not been plundered). the context of that scripture and who Jesus said that to surely has some significance...He was talking to the jews about their scriptures(john 5:17-18)...not everyone who reads the entire bible now. as a matter of fact we read the OT now in order to read that He was who He said He was.

it seems to me that most, if not all christians are really hung up on sin and redemption from sin and how naturally evil we all are.. my question, and observation is this : i had nothing to do with whatever you say adam and eve did wrong, i have always, throughout my life, treated whoever i came into contact with compassion, respect and love.. i have lived by the golden rule.. not many people, hand on heart, can say that, i can.. so, is your god going to judge me for the "sin" of some mythical forebears of mine ?

is he going to say that , because i did not believe in him, i willl be judged adversely, even though i lived by the precepts he is supposed to support ?.

all i can say is, if your god is like that, i refuse to worship or acknowledge him.. and i certainly do not want to get to know him.

Is isaiah 9:6 a prophecy regarding the state of the kingdom after the restoration? or maybe during?...either way have we been taught to expect two Everlasting Fathers and two Mighty Gods?

In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. neither you nor I can be sure who or how many are receivingthe message that I preach so it is not up to you to decide if I am ineffectual. if anything by your condemning the preaching that I do as ineffectual...you are mocking and doing the evangelist a disservice...you are not supportive of either godrulz or me and you have even gone so far as to scorn our efforts as if we were "less than"...perhaps you should reflect on what it means to serve as part of the body of Christ as opposed to being part of the world. I am content that I am doing the job(s) within the church structure that I was assigned to do and I know that God continues to bless my efforts whether you choose to bless them or not...matthew 24:45-46...

you do realize that the church of Jesus Christ has the office of evangelist don't you? which means in the bigger scheme of things if you don't support evangelism because you don't like "it" or you think "it" is ineffectual how can you affirm that you are not supporting the church that Jesus founded or the message that He has entrusted to those who would do "it"?

to answer your statement about God having everything to do with our salvation because He draws one to Jesus Christ...

I agree with you on this statement, however...our free will right to reject the Son of God is purely in our hands...if not this implies that God is responsible for the rejection too? (do you think that it is in the heart of God that He desires some to reject His Son and salvation)?...what about the will of God that all men might be saved?...there was a DIFFERENCE AND A PURPOSE for God hardening the heart of pharoah and the Jewish people(who are going to be grafted back in for and to the glory of God)...and His continueing call to ALL that they might come to His Son for salvation.the AGE OF GRACE is...the gospel, an open call to all: jew or greek, slave or free. john 12:32

the way I've approached the preaching work on JWD and JWN has been radically different than godrulz...so I suppose it's just the message that you find unpleasant. I'm a teacher and encourager irl too to the extent that I can be, but to be a teacher and encourager within the church and for the church and Jesus is different ...for instance, because you have a hard time with godrulz' approach to evagelization you've been vocal in tearing him up...I, on the other hand understand that his message is sound and will over look his shortcomings as an evangelist because 1 peter 4:8-9...I have taken a bit of time from the teaching and evangelization that is my "job" (on this forum) in order to minister to the lowliest...the weakest link in YOUR daisy chain.

is he going to say that , because i did not believe in him, i willl be judged adversely, even though i lived by the precepts he is supposed to support ?.

all i can say is, if your god is like that, i refuse to worship or acknowledge him.. and i certainly do not want to get to know him.

good morning!...

Adam is man in the flesh, being created, even if he never did "sin" he would still have had to eat of the tree of life to sustain his "life"...he could never be our everlasting or eternal father...he had a beginning. Jesus comes from eternity from everlasting...He was not created and He doesn't have to eat from the tree of "life" to sustain Himself...He is the pre-existant One who was before creation. That is why He is called the everlasting Father in isaiah 9:6...through Him the creation/flesh was born and in Him also the resurrected are born into the eternal everlasting kingdom, the "place" outside of time where God is from and where God has always been pre-existant and self-existant...Adam is not from there...he is a part of the creation where Jesus as the Son of God is not part of the creation and where Jesus as the Son of Man is also set apart from the creation BECAUSE He is the only begotten of the Father. love michelle p.s. Jesus is not called our everlasting "brother" because He is the father of the resurrection...the first to be resurrected to be followed by many brothers and sisters...:)

Jesus gave all His disciples permission to preach...it is called the great commission.

It looks like you have made it your concern to rag godrulz' ass all over this forum(and by extention all evangelicals)...why is that? the scripture says: "And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love." ephesians 4:11-16

where precisely are you in the ministry?...If godrulz has been given a gift, lets say the "job" of evangelization...who are you to tell him he's not excercising his gift properly?...you didn't bestow the gift. And if we are given these gifts they are used to built up the church...not ourselves. why do you keep attacking godrulz personally when he is just delivering a message?...

I wonder if you are content to allow others to be blown about by every wind of doctine because you yourself are not grounded in your faith?...that seems to be the case if one was to call them self a skeptical christian....don't you think?...or is it that you just think that truth can't be known?...I wonder why one might think that unless they have blown about with every wind of doctrine. Jesus was the truth and He also showed by His actions that one can learn the truth from the scripture as He Himself did...paul is an excellent example of someone who was well versed in the OT and he was able to teach the congregation the reason we should put our faith in Jesus Christ because of what it said in the OT...he didn't just pull stuff out of thin air...his faith was grounded. He also told timothy,who was also well grounded in the scripture, not to forget what he had told him...1 corinthians 14:32...discipleship is not nursing pet ideas(regardless of how "spiritual" they may appear), discipleship is more than running around and putting bandaids on booboo's...luke 6:40
