ok jh started it with the celine dion thread.
let's talk about another canadian superstar, one who grew up not too far from where i live.. q1.
would you go / have you gone to a shania twain concert ?.
I admire her keeping her family together after her parents were killed. I agree, it was very noble.
Her first couple of albums were interesting and unique in their sass and puck. However, now, it's gotten old. The whole "In yer face woman/sexpot, I'm tough/don't mess with me, attitude" dress has been washed more than a few times. It's faded, threadbare, and BORING.
I also found her superbowl performance strained and tired.
I would have preferred more Sting/Stephani.
So, I guess I'm sayin "NO" I won't be lining Shaina's pockets with my cash anytime soon.
UH UH OH!

for anyone who knows me, i have always been a very strong support for women's right to do as they please in life, but today we had a very interesting discussion about this issue>.
this is to me one area where i wonder is it really the best thing to do, not so much because of how we in the west perhaps view women in positions and power, but how women are often times viewed by those that we maybe at war with.
culturally as men we have been conditioned to protect the woman- in fact in almost all cultures that i can think of that basic mindset is held by most men i would dare say-.
So, we should keep women off the front lines because of how MEN have been conditioned to react to them? Not because they can't do the job, but because MEN can't handle them doing the job.

what does it take to take on life head to head?.
why does one sometimes feel so sad, so lonely better off dead.
i feel like i have a hole through the middle of my heart.
Donkey,
You never answered...........
.
i recall when roman polanski molested (raped) a 13 year old girl..... now he wins an oscar....something is wrong...
And are you all just as upset with your president ordering bombardments on a city with dead and wounded children as result?
>Berten:
>Talk about changing the subject! One has absolutely NOTHING to do with the other.
OK,if you say so.I just find it hypocritical.
>Do you have an opinion on Polanski's award or not?
Oh,you want my opinion?
And if I say he deserves his award,am I taking the side
of a child molestor then?
And if I say he does not,am I a good boy then?
Yo! Berten!
You can always start your own thread and ask us, right?

War! Ugh! What is it good for?
Lots a hostile threads, apparently.

I thought I was going to lose my dinner watching those Hollywood types give him a standing ovation. Bet they wouldn't feel that way if it was THEIR thirteen year old daughter. And I don't give a damn how long ago it was. The man fled to avoid prosecution.
He didnt rape her...she didn“t file charges, did she?
He is a great director, we should not focus on his past
First off, "she" can't file charges. Only the District attorney's office can file charges. Polansky was arrested. He then fled the US to avoid prosecution. If he were to ever return to the US he would immediately be arrested again and have to face those same charges.
I just don't get people like you, gydja. Just because an individual is gifted in a certain area of the entertainment industry, you all think that gives them some sort of immunity from being punished for their crimes against children. Just allow enough time to go by, and then all is forgiven.
Andee
sorry, call me a b*$ch if you'd like but is this really a place for a 13 year old child to be hanging out?
is the chat room really a place for kids?
i know i wouldn't let my 14 year old near this place.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/48684/1.ashx.
the possiblity of night time chat being inappropriate for children is high
I would just like to make a point, then I'm outta here.
People also need to remember that it's not "night time" for everyone at the same time. When it's night time, here, it can be "daytime" for those across the pond and in Australia.
Same if someone were to live in Hawaii. It may be 9:30 pm on the east coast, but it's only 3:30 pm there.
That is all.

do you generally have things made for you, things set and life generally go your way?
or is everything is a battle and a major fight for survival?
just curious.
Whew! Glad to know that all is well in Amanda's world.
I'm am so sorry about your ex-husband's sister. My God, what some people have to endure in this life. In fact, it is people like her that I truly admire. Those that have to live in, and witness, things that are unimaginable and still manage to hang on to their goodness and their humanity. For what it is worth, give her huge(((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))) from me.

I would have to say I'm somewhere in the middle. Maybe leaning to the major fight side just slightly.
I've had some really devastating things happen in my life. For example: When I was 10, I witnessed my Father being beaten bloody with a lead pipe. I stood hiding, terrified, less than ten feet away.
I've nearly lost my daughter twice to illness.
I've also had some wonderful things happen. For example: Meeting and marrying a man that is devoted to me and my children.
Seeing my daughter kick her first soccer goal.
Having my son tell me the other morning "Mom, you look Beeeeuuuuuttttiful!"
Then there's everything in between. I've struggled in many areas in my life. A few mightly. Financially and emotionally. To reveal the details would involve writing a novel. I still have my days when the only thought in my head is "Life Sucks and I hate it!"
Not sure what I can offer you here, Amanda. I know you have had a lot of crap dumped in your lap in a very short time. Just hang on to your little girl and keep putting one foot in front of the other.
