Marrying Young
by Descender insomething has been bothering me as of late.
my younger brother, who is 17 years old plans on getting married right after he turns 18 this upcoming year.
i have quite a few problems with this, but he thinks that he knows it all at his age.. i'm concerned for several reasons.

I have never heard of anyone younger than my Mom. Dad 19, Mom 14, both JWs. Though, my Mom was not baptised.
22 years of disaster. My birth being the exception, of course.
I also have two female cousins, sisters (not the JW kind, though they are THAT too) that married JW brothers at 15 and 17. Haven't seen them in years because of shunning, but hear that they are still married. I suppose they are as happily married as JW's CAN be.

Propaganda and the WTS
by hillary_step inpropaganda and blatant liar can often be seen sharing a beer together in the local pub.
the observer can differentiate them quite easily as at the end of the evening propaganda stabs blatant liar in the back and steals his underwear.
the common element that bonds these two characters in this uneasy friendship is an agenda that recognizes that matters cannot be presented to a person or group without needing to adjust or manipulate the facts to serve their own ambitions.

My own view though probably it is of little interest to anybody but myself, is that all religions, like doctors and others who deal in lives and destiny, should without exception be licensed by a Government free of mystic fetters and insured against the legal ramifications of those who choose to sue for not getting what they were promised.
Actually, I found this very interesting, and as written, makes very good sense.
Nice to read you, HS.

Do you tell your spouse or partner EVERYTHING?
by doodle-v infrom my experience, and im fairly young so i still have a lot to learn, but i found that being honest can be very difficult and it also takes a good level of trust from both parties.
one night my fiance and i just sat and told each other everything about our past, you know, (if i tell him that he might leave) that kind of stuff.
well i'll tell you it was one of the most difficult things i've ever done.

Whenever an individual works with the public, there is bound to be weird stories to tell. Nearly all of my jobs had heavy public contact and I have a plethora of them from which I could choose. What's scary, it that these people breed, multiply, and walk among us.
I worked in banking for many years. One "department" worked in was "customer service". In short, my job was to solve problems. Bank=money=lots of problems. I worked in a wealthy area and some of those people would come unglued over a couple of bucks of interest they thought they didn't get paid.
However, the encounter that stands out is with Young Obnoxious Bodybuilder (YOB) because it's ridiculous and funny. So, YOB saunters up the counter and tosses his check book register at me and with a rude sneer that "we" are ripping him off. Seems he can't get any $$ out of the ATM. I brace myself for a nasty exchange and walk over and take a look at his register. Then I begin to compare his records with the bank record of transactions of the computer. Yes, indeed, something is amiss. I notice dozens of ATM withdrawls on the computer, yet, none marked in his book. I ask "Do you make many ATM withdrawls"? "Yes" he answers. "Well, sir, you neglected to mark them in your book and subtract them from your balance". AND I KID YOU NOT the guy asks astonished and completely serious "You mean I have to minus them from my account"???
Me: "Uh yeah". And of course, I couldn't resist "What you think the ATM is, free money?"
Suddenly, YOB loses the "O".
I swore he grew a tail just so he could walk out with it tucked between his legs.

Marital seperation -- the Society's guidelines
by logansrun ini'm curious..... the society's policies on the issue of a person seperating from his or her mate is the following (so far as i know):.
the mate may "scripturally" seperate on the grounds of:.
1) extreme abuse.
-
BeautifulGarbage
11 Extreme physical abuse is another basis for separation. Suppose an unbelieving mate often gets drunk, becomes enraged, and causes the believer physical harm. (Proverbs 23:29-35) Through prayer and by displaying the fruitage of Jehovah’s spirit, the believer may be able to prevent such outbursts and make the situation endurable. But if the point is reached where the health and life of the abused mate actually are in jeopardy, separation would be allowable Scripturally. Again, congregation elders should look into charges of physical abuse when two Christians are involved in the troubled marriage, and disfellowshipping action may have to be taken.—Compare Galatians 5:19-21; Titus 1:7.
Of course, a Brother would never get drunk, become enraged, and cause physical harm.
And it was all just a figment of my and my Mother's imagination.

I got some email from my ex best friend, a JW!
by jwbot inhere is some email correspondence between myself (in blue) and my ex best friend (in maroon).
in terms of the religion, i am a very feminist person, and i pretty much decided that feminism and that religion does not mix (for obvious reasons).
thats where the people you know leave you because you are not like them anymore.

You know its never a good idea to mix witnesses and worldy, mostly for the worldy persons sake.
Now, this statement jumped off the page at me. For the worldly persons sake? LOLToo bad this is not applied when going out in field service.
